We can now start allowing trade professionals to sign up to the site and start making orders.  I had held back shopping for developers for this site because I was sure it would be a price that would be completely unattainable, and I was sure I would have to go get funding before developing because of what this should have cost. Working with Arbisoft, I was able to develop this entire platform, in only 9 months, and maintain 100% equity in my company since I didn't have to dilute to secure funding to build.Describe their project management. Arbisoft always delivers on time and they completely tailor the resources to the budget that we have. We use online collaboration tools to participate in daily stand-ups and sprint retrospectives with the entire development and QA team. Our approach has evolved and changed over time, some sort of mix of agile and Kanban. We now document more detailed requirements, like API specs in Confuence. We don't find the time difference to be an insurmountable problem, although sometimes it would be easier if we could all be in the same room. So to that end, have visited our team at Arbiosft multiple times and find that even an infrequent face-to-face connection improves the overall working relationship and team communication. What did you find most impressive about them? They’re committed to being part of our team and really care about not just the success of the project or the delivery of ticket, but the success of our business goals. Thinking about our work on that level allows everyone to be better aligned and more effective. I don’t think that level of dedication and care is all that common across development partners, even if sales people tell you it is. Additionally, they have a low turnover rate and cultivated a healthy internal company culture that translates into their work. Are there any areas they could improve? There’s nothing I’d have our team improve on independently as a team, but we have things which we are continuously working on improving together as PayPerks (e.g. our entire team, including me), such as communications, architecting, requirements and story writing, and so on. The biggest benefit from Arbisoft is freeing up our internal QA team to work on other projects. We can go about our work knowing that, if there are issues, Arbisoft will find and address them. If anyone is out sick or has an emergency, I never worry about tasks being forgotten. Someone is always there to pick up the slack. They have great people in charge. They communicate well, letting us know of any issues or problems that arise. We use qTest and Jira to manage tasks. qTest allows us to store test plans and results in one place. We use Jira to track bugs. It streamlines our work and lets us review issues quickly to determine the next step. What did you find most impressive about them? Arbisoft is a tremendous asset. They’re willing and eager to take on any new tasks. For example, we wanted their help looking through our log files to identify issues, and they started right away. It took some training, but they like to learn new things and help us however possible. They frequently go above and beyond, too. We’ve had problems with the releases before, and Arbisoft will stay late into the evening to make sure it all goes through. Are there any areas they could improve? I can't think of anything. In order to be connected to the Wanderu platform, we have to connect to the various APIs of different bus and rail systems around the world. We just need them to keep the integration effort going and work with our partners directly when there are technical integration issues. Our time zones briefly overlap, but Arbisoft has been great at staying a little later into their day to work more closely with us. We typically connect in the morning, East Coast time, and catch up and answer questions. We use Slack heavily, and we have weekly team video conference calls.  The mobile engineering team is a bit less coordinated because there’s only one team member, but it’s quite similar. What did you find most impressive about them? Their communication, both written and verbal, is excellent. They train and assess their engineers well, so they always meet our needs and can begin an engagement right away. We’ve never had a bad experience with any of their team members.   Are there any areas they could improve? For some engineers, perfection can be the enemy of good. I encourage them to make incremental steps and iterate on them, but that’s sometimes hard. We’re okay with minimum integration so we can ship the product, as long as we continue to make updates as needed. They tend to want to completely finish a product first, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but we have to remind them that, sometimes, the basics are fine. If you have a large time zone difference, you’ll need to establish a good communication process and pipeline so that they don't run out of work partway through the day. Find ways for them to always be able to pick up additional effort from the backlog or make sure that their queue is well stocked. This disjointed experience often led to user drop-offs, especially among mobile-centric users, highlighting the critical need for in-app purchase functionality. Short Term Strategy To validate the necessity of in-app purchases (IAP) and understand user preferences, our team at Arbisoft conducted two types of experiments: the Painted Door Test and A/B testing. In the Painted Door Test, we added an upgrade button within the mobile app interface. This simple addition allowed us to gauge user interest in upgrading courses directly through the app. The positive responses and user interactions with this feature indicated a clear demand for in-app purchases. Following the Painted Door Test, we conducted A/B testing to further gauge user behavior and preferences. In this testing phase, 50% of users were given access to the new upgrade course feature, while the other 50% continued using the app without this feature. This approach allowed us to monitor purchase behavior between the two groups, providing valuable insights into the viability of in-app purchases. The users demonstrated a willingness to make purchases directly via the app. Long-Term Strategy for Android With the need for in-app purchases validated, the next step was to focus on enhancing scalability and reducing operational complexities. This involved categorizing products into consumable (multiple purchases) and non-consumable (one-time purchases), optimizing backend infrastructure, and streamlining user experiences. The overarching goal was to improve scalability, simplify transactions, and increase the availability of upgradeable courses on the mobile app. The Outcome The edX user base grew by 15% in 30 days and saved 200 labor hours in the process ### Web Design Project for ilmX The ilmX team came to us with a proposal to help redesign their website not just in terms of UI but also to particularly focus on decreasing navigational complexity and improving the UX. Users struggled with the course exploration experience, and the site suffered from visual inconsistencies due to multiple designers working on it over time. Our Approach included - Conducting a full UX audit, pinpointing usability issues and identifying areas that required restructuring. Redesigning the **homepage layout** to showcase featured courses and personalized recommendations.  Improving the **course filtering and categorization system**, making it easier for users to find relevant content. Its workflows required policy lifecycle management, commission tracking, client communication, and consistency between policy data, CRM activities, and accounting records. The lack of a unified system limited automation in document processing, claims handling, and financial tracking. The Approach Arbisoft implemented a customized Odoo solution with modular development across policy management, commissions, CRM, and financial operations. We built a policy module with integrated commission tracking and financial document handling, and configured a custom CRM pipeline with automated reminders and approval stages. AI-powered OCR was introduced to extract and populate policy data from documents, reducing manual effort. We also added an AI-driven quote comparison feature to evaluate quotes from different insurance companies against client requirements and recommend suitable options. Financial workflows were designed for debit and credit notes, journal entries, and commission calculations, along with automation for policy renewals and claims intake via WhatsApp and email. The Outcome The client established a centralized system connecting policy management, CRM workflows, and financial operations. This enabled structured tracking of policy lifecycles, including renewals and endorsements. Automation reduced manual effort through AI-assisted data population and CRM-driven reminders, while financial transactions are systematically recorded through journal entries for better visibility into receivables, payables, and commission expenses. The solution also improved claims intake and commission handling while maintaining alignment with accounting requirements. ### Odoo CRM for ilmX’s Lead Management The Challenge ilmX, a long-term digital learning partner enabled by Arbisoft, provides training and upskilling solutions to organizations across Pakistan. As its partner network expanded and outreach efforts grew, ilmX needed a structured CRM system to manage leads more effectively. Without a centralized platform, organizing lead generation, engagement, and conversion activities at scale became increasingly difficult. This has improved ilmX’s ability to scale engagement with institutions and enterprises. ### AI-Ready ETL Modernization on AWS A food and beverage analytics platform relied on legacy Amazon ECS pipelines that took 24–48 hours to process data, cost approximately $5,000 per month, and reprocessed complete datasets during every run. Limited monitoring also made failures difficult to diagnose and recover from. We modernized the ETL architecture using Apache Spark on AWS Glue, enabling distributed, parallel, and serverless processing. We also introduced change data capture (CDC), allowing the pipelines to process only new or modified records instead of performing full dataset reloads. Centralized monitoring, execution logging, failure visibility, and targeted job retries were added to improve reliability and simplify operations. The new architecture reduced processing time to 2–4 hours, making workloads up to 12 times faster. Monthly ETL costs fell from approximately $5,000 to $800, an 84% reduction. Data became available within hours instead of days, while the platform gained the scalability and reliability required to support growing data volumes, AI-driven analytics, and faster customer reporting. Technologies included AWS, Amazon S3, Apache Spark, AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, and Amazon CloudWatch. ### Real-Time Open-Source Learning Analytics Challenge: An online learning platform needed near-real-time insight into learner engagement, course performance, assessments, and platform usage. Reporting directly from the production OLTP database slowed the application, while proprietary analytics platforms introduced unwanted licensing costs. Solution: We built a self-hosted analytics platform using an entirely open-source stack. Vector continuously moved operational data into ClickHouse, separating transactional and analytical workloads. Apache Superset provided interactive, role-based dashboards for business and academic stakeholders. Results: The platform delivered near-real-time visibility into enrollments, active learners, completion rates, certificates, student progress, content engagement, and assessment performance. It removed reporting load from the production database, enabled high-speed analysis across millions of records, reduced infrastructure and licensing overhead, and created a scalable foundation for growing data volumes. Technology stack: Vector, ClickHouse, Apache Superset, an OLTP database, and self-hosted open-source infrastructure. ### Apache Iceberg Travel Data Lakehouse Challenge: A growing corporate travel platform faced 7–8-hour ETL jobs, resource contention, throttling, and degraded performance because its OLTP database was also handling analytical workloads. Compute and storage were tightly coupled, while downstream consumers repeatedly transformed the same data. Solution: We replaced the legacy warehouse with a cloud-native Apache Iceberg lakehouse on Amazon S3. Raw data was loaded once and transformed through distributed Apache Spark jobs on AWS Glue. The architecture separated compute from storage, supported concurrent workloads, and created reusable curated Gold datasets for reporting and AI use cases. Results: The platform significantly reduced long-running processing, improved workload isolation and concurrency, and allowed storage and compute to scale independently. The Gold layer became a trusted source for BI dashboards, machine learning feature engineering, predictive analytics, model training, inference, and future generative AI applications. Technology stack: Apache Iceberg, Apache Spark, Amazon S3, AWS Glue, and Amazon QuickSight. ### Petabyte-Scale Parquet Optimization Challenge: A travel data provider stored more than 1 PB of Parquet data in Amazon S3. Default Snappy compression and millions of small files created by Trino increased storage costs, fragmented the data layout, and complicated downstream analytics. Solution: We designed a production-scale benchmarking framework to compare Snappy and Zstandard (ZSTD) across storage footprint, write throughput, query performance, and CPU usage. We then increased Parquet block sizes, improved row-group organization, and tuned Trino writer scaling, task counts, and output parallelism. Only configurations validated against production-scale datasets were promoted to production. Results: ZSTD reduced storage consumption by approximately 25%, while writer and file-layout improvements cut the number of Parquet files by more than 80%. The optimization generated about $350,000 in annual storage savings, reduced fragmentation, simplified downstream processing, and maintained acceptable query and write performance. Technology stack: Trino, Apache Hive, Apache Parquet, ZSTD, Snappy, Amazon S3, Kubernetes, and Helm. ### Agentic AI Engineering for Travly Travly is a consumer travel platform for hotel search, booking, subscriptions, and trip management. Its five-person engineering team was already using multiple AI tools, but the tools lacked shared context, documented engineering knowledge, and access to the team’s connected systems. This created bottlenecks across product planning, development, testing, production support, and hotel supplier integrations. Arbisoft designed and implemented a structured agentic AI engineering system across Travly’s backend, frontend, and mobile repositories. We consolidated the team’s AI-assisted workflow, documented architectural decisions and coding conventions, and created specialized agents for solution architecture, development, testing, code review, and SQL optimization. We also built reusable skills for recurring engineering work and connected Slack, Jira, GitHub, Sentry, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Figma, AWS, and Playwright through Model Context Protocol integrations. The system also included a seven-agent product specification pipeline and an automated delivery tracker that summarized completed, active, and blocked work. Within 60 days, Travly tripled sprint output from 12–15 to 43 pull requests without increasing headcount. Product specification time dropped from half a day to about 15 minutes, while hotel supplier integrations decreased from 8–12 weeks to 5–6 days. The system autonomously resolved 80 production bugs, cleared more than 60,000 Sentry errors, generated 322 backend tests, and reduced frontend build time from approximately 19 minutes to 4–5 minutes.
