Arbisoft was contracted to create the RFP for the site, then design and build the marketplace accounting for several categories of product types, lead times, allow for trade professionals to be able to quote and set their markups directly on the site, allow for end clients to purchase on the site, allow for commission to be sent back to trade professionals, keep track of inventory levels, and allow for logistics to be handled through the site.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The website has been developed, all the information spoken about during meetings or emails was tracked and documented, priorities were identified with any changes and agreed to by all members when that would be implemented. The website is now live, the core vendors have been onboarded, and the functionalities have been cleared. We can now start allowing trade professionals to sign up to the site and start making orders.  I had held back shopping for developers for this site because I was sure it would be a price that would be completely unattainable, and I was sure I would have to go get funding before developing because of what this should have cost. Working with Arbisoft, I was able to develop this entire platform, in only 9 months, and maintain 100% equity in my company since I didn't have to dilute to secure funding to build.

The team was diligent about getting their tasks completed by the time they had estimated completion. As with any start up, the idea we started with had evolved a bit over time, and with that, we have pivoted and set new tasks as priorities as needed. They were patient with me any time I changed things up on them, and adjusted accordingly. They also had given their feedback and their expertise when discussing certain strategies, so I felt like I had somewhat of an advisory board as we were developing the product.  They are responsive, dedicated, and provide the highest quality results.

This company operates like a well-oiled machine. They all communicated consistely amongst themselves, and gave me regular reports to update me, or consult me on concepts they wanted clarity on. They were just as invested in the success of the platform as I am, and it is reflected in the final product. They certainly listened and complied when I would insist on something, but they were comfortable enough to give me guidance when they saw it necessary. I appreciated the community effort and personal dedication they each had to the creation of this website. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Arbisoft could have done differently?

I don't have anything I could say that would improve their operations, or my client experience. This experience has made me feel like I could turly build anything that I could come up with, and I have an army of developers and designers ready to tackle impossible tasks.

We have been able to get great quality work at a much lower cost than with our previous vendor. This has allowed us to scale our team and achieve our milestones much quicker. We have also been able to get more ambitious with the goals for two new product areas we are getting into.

We have executed multiple distinct projects with Arbisoft as they have a team with a great deal of breadth of technical expertise.

One recent project was a significant rearchitecture of our Wordpress website.  This project improved our ability to manage the website content through flexible, custom post types.  Additionally, the team helped us migrate to the Elementor framework, making our site much easier to maintain.

Separately we work a team of Python/Django engineers to help sustain portions of our open-source learning management platform, the Open edX platform.  That team has ramped up quickly and taken on ownership and maintenance of siginficant parts of the platform.

Arbisoft consistently set deadlines, met those deadlines with ease. They developed a TestFlight app we were quite happy with, and that which also greatly pleased our customers

Always on time. Very smooth communication over Slack, email, and Zoom. the SLA's were always clearly communicated. We actually had some last-minute faster deadlines come up, and they worked with us to see how they could help push forward changes at a faster pace. I greatly appreciate the team's dedication to helping us meet our goals

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Creative thinking, kindness, and breadth and depth of their knowledge. Arbisoft is an incredible organization. I had a great experience working with all of their staff. I also really enjoyed all of the creative problem-solving. We could test out a few different features and decide what worked best for our needs. 

They also have great internal communication. The team worked wonderfully together and in turn, worked wonderfully with us. They addressed all of our concerns with a balance of care and swiftness. I love working with them. It feels collaborative and fun - which is just a joy to have in the workplace!

Are there any areas for improvement or something Arbisoft could have done differently?

The only potential downside to working with Arbisoft was that we are 12 hours apart. I actually didn't find this a hindrance since we had such communication that the large time zone difference was very easily navigable.

I’m the CEO and engineer of Braces On Demand. We’re a tech company in the orthodontics space and we focus on 3D printing orthodontic appliances.

What challenge were you trying to address with Arbisoft?

We needed someone to build our web app and provide us with custom software development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We first engaged Arbisoft to connect our native app with our third-party 3D printing software system. They wrote all the codes and did the backend to allow us to deliver our 3D printing files remotely. They achieved that relatively quickly and once that was done, we branched out with them to create the basic architecture to build our web-based app and its UI.

We’re still working with them in sprints where we’ll come up with a new feature for the app, and they’ll go through a series of content creation, approvals, testing, and validation before moving onto the next sprint. 

What is the team composition?

Our main point of contact is Haniya (Sr. Software Engineer) and we typically work with about 3–4 people at any given time.

How did you come to work with Arbisoft?

Arbisoft was actually recommended by one of our co-founders. We met with their CEO, who was a Stanford graduate, and we were just really impressed with their capabilities. At the time, we were still in the exploratory phase of our business, so I felt very confident hiring them to help us set the scope of what we were trying to accomplish.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve invested somewhere between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The ongoing partnership started in October 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Arbisoft always delivers on time and they completely tailor the resources to the budget that we have. Their company is incredibly friendly for startups, as they provide the ability to get the most out of their programming assets.

Additionally, they’ve never missed any tasks since the start of the project. As far as hitting deliverables and creating functioning codes for the ambiguous scope of work, I couldn’t possibly praise them any higher — we’ve gone from having an idea to having a fully functioning software system and website.

How did Arbisoft perform from a project management standpoint?

We typically communicate through email when I have multiple points to make and I need to be as detailed as possible. Other than that, we use JIRA to manage our project. Moreover, we’ll have weekly calls to catch up and review certain aspects of the process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What distinguishes Arbisoft is their ability to assist you in setting the scope of the work. I don’t know much about computer programming, so they brought their expertise to help us figure out what was needed — they have a wealth of knowledge that they share to make our business more successful.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’ve seen what we’ve done and how far we’ve come, but I wish we could have quarterly meetings with them, to recap where we were in our previous quarter. I think having a forced mechanism of review would be helpful for our progress.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would definitely say that it’s worth spending the time to dial in on the scope of work, even if it’s ambiguous. Therefore, I’d suggest having more meetings upfront to set the foundations of what your project is going to be.

I think the biggest mistake that people could make is skipping the time in setting up their scope and then changing it halfway through — so relying on Arbisoft’s expertise would make the process worthwhile. Their help made such a big difference for us, because they got the right people to lead the project, and the right resources at the right time — they made sure that we were successful.
