Addressing the inclusion gap in Latin America remains an area where few organizations have invested their resources and efforts, especially in the inclusion of the LGTBQ+ population. A contract was signed for the execution of the project “LegalTech: Legal Inclusion Solutions for the LGBTQ+ Population”, which seeks to facilitate the effective access of members of the LGBTQ+ population to digital legal services (legaltech) focused on the resolution of cases of discrimination based on gender and sexual identity in the labor and professional spheres. This solution documents the methodologies, tools and techniques used for the development of the project, generating an annex of 48 documents and audio-visual material, including the results of 23 semi-structured interviews and 55 online surveys applied to key partners and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The answer to provide a solution to this problem was that LegalTech comes to add innovative tools for the community, bringing with it other actors (law firms, lawyers, institutions, etc.) to recognize the problems of the LGTBQ+ community and support in the search for a solution. One of the key results was that the Igualitika platform officially went live on July 23, 10 weeks after the completion of this study, the fulfillment of the 4 outcome indicators is limited, especially in terms of consultations made and cases attended.  However, the process of interviews/surveys to 78 people allows identifying that 90.8% of people consider the Igualitika.com platform as useful or very useful, and 90.5% indicate that it provides an adequate response to the legal and rights needs of the LGTBQ+ population, being an inclusive platform (92.6%), with a very adequate purpose (87%).

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The lessons learned and recommendations highlight the importance that such specialized interventions at the technical and professional level, promoting new technologies, should seek to focus efforts by valuing the coverage vs. the sophistication of the intervention.  There is consensus that Igualitika is an Innovative project, with 85.5% of the people who responded to the survey giving a rating of innovative or very innovative.

The effort made by Igualitika to listen to the needs of the community is identified as a good practice, however it is recommended that Igualitika continue to deepen its outreach to the LGTBQ+ community, recognizing that Igualitika is part of a broader ecosystem that “adds efforts to the cause” and requires more time and resources.

Everything was delivered on time.
They met our needs based on the fact that the Igualitika.com platform is innovative for the methodology of inclusion of members of the LGBTQ+ population in the construction of the legal services platform that does not exist as such in the country.
It is available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week from a mobile device, from a click, it is an innovative project that will set a precedent for free access to information and advice.
What makes the project innovative is that it has a response capacity and a line of professionals responding to this platform.
It provides a broader perspective with a legal team and technological support.

Scope of Work:

Aracari Studios was engaged to support the development and branding of our app, focusing on two primary phases:

1. Initial Mobile App Development: The objective was to build a fully functional mobile application that supports our salary-on-demand services, integrating critical features such as user onboarding, login, and secure transaction processing.

• Key Deliverables included: 
  • Development of the mobile app for iOS and Android using a cross-platform framework- Flutter.
  • Integration with backend services, such as transaction management, OTP verification (via Twilio), and salary withdrawal functionalities.
  • Implementation of user-friendly interfaces and intuitive workflows to ensure smooth user adoption.
  • A focus on meeting go-live deadlines to enable the company to begin generating revenue as soon as possible.

2. App Rebranding and Stabilization: After the initial release, Aracari Studios led the implementation of the rebranding effort, ensuring the app’s design updates were fully realized and integrated into the platform.

We needed a team that was professionally proficient in both English and Spanish, with a wide set of skills in software development, mobile app development, website development, and communications. 

We used the CVent platform due to our organisation already having a paid account with CVent, and Aracari were quick to not just learn the basics of CVent but to become experts. They built our event website through CVent, built a mobile app for all of the event attendees that had networking capabilities, assisted in setting registration/payment processing, and even helped to manage bilingual communications for our global group of attendees.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Aracari were always able and willing to connect to discuss updates, including weekly catch up meetings. They set clear deadlines for deliverables such as website launch date, registration launch date, frequent communications materials developed and sent to all event attendees, mobile app launch date, and more. Aracari were always ahead of schedule and even identified new and innovative ideas that our team was not even aware of as a possibility. 

Aracari also delivered end of project reports that gave us very detailed analytics that we were then able to use to present to the leadership team of our organisation, which helped to highlight the success of our event. Aracari went above and beyond and felt more like an extension of our team rather than a partner organisation.

Aracari Studios was always very personal in their interactions and made us feel like we were their only client, even though we were most likely their smallest client. They were always ahead of schedule and made time for us, even for last-minute questions and/or requests. At different times, all members of the Aracari team joined calls along with the project managers to check in and make sure we were having all of our needs satisfied.

Aracari is up to any challenge and are quick to find solutions. Everything that we needed help with was new to us as an organisation, so we were often adding complications by coming up with requests very last minute or not even giving clear guidance on our needs. 

However, Aracari always knew the right solution and never once made us feel like we were being a burden. The Aracari team seems like they can do anything and are always willing to figure out how to solve even the most complex challenges.

Honestly, nothing that I can see needs improvement. I hope we get a chance to work with them again soon!

Design, development (including the integration with other internal systems), testing, and deployment of a web app that allowed to automate the debt collection process carried out directly by financial institutions or via third party debt collection agencies through the integration of customer data bases and CRMs with external services such as WhatsApp, Twilio, and others. 

The main deliverable was the fully operational web app, duly tested, and customizable for different types of potential customers (banks, and other financial institutions). Additional deliverables include: 

• All app documentation and a scaling roadmap for the app, including a backlog of additional functionalities. 
• The setup and facilitation of demo environments for potential customers. 
• Customized manuals for future, interactive demo presentations for potential customers.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The main output was the completion of the web app within schedule and with high quality standards. The project timeline was set for 6 weeks and the team delivered the app in 5 weeks, with enough time to conduct a full review and approval process without affecting the quality of the product. The second measurable outcome was the inclusion of even higher standard security features than required.

The Aracari team assigned a Product Owner (Kevin) who was the main point of contact for all the daily activities. He was very organized and quickly established effective channels of communication between both our teams, which was crucial to react quickly to any situation. Additionally, Aracari's Project Manager (Rubén) was keeping me updated on a regular basis regarding progress, challenges, and always bringing proposed solutions, in anticipation to any potential risk.

It is worth noting that the first output that set the tone for the project was the thorough codesign process that was led by the Aracari Studios team. Having a low-res prototype we could iterate before arriving to the final design allowed to have a smooth and fast development process.
