That's a pleasure to work with the guys bc everything is transparent and agreed upon by us. It is just one of our several projects, but we appreciate the Updraft as the developers for developers solution. This is a successful App testing feature, so we have maintained it since 2013 till now.

The Apps with Love handles all the project's steps such as Concept, UX-Design, Project Management, Marketing, User Research, and even some Web Development and Backend Development.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We met at the event and decided to collaborate on projects, and we work together for 10+ years by now. The guys were neat and professional from the very beginning.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Updraft is a tool for distributing apps designed to meet the needs of developers, project managers, QA staff, and comms people. It integrates with your IDE but is also easy to use if you want to distribute a new beta version quickly. Application testers and users are guided through the installation process within a comprehensive web app. We can also offer a fully customized enterprise solution. Updraft integrates with popular tools like Slack, Teamcity, Jenkins, Fastlane, Gradle, and Gitlab. You can create new app releases or enable automatic notifications to your testers. Updraft also has an SDK for feedback, bug reporting, and in-app updates. All data is encrypted end-to-end, and apps are stored on Exoscale's secure cloud servers.

The team comprises designers, product managers, developers, quality assurance, and marketing folks.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We created a free platform for app testing for anybody anywhere to improve their development and user experience.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Apps with Love has a great PM team, so the workflow is stable and Agile-approved 🙃

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their communication. They are transparent, friendly, and quick in fixing bugs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

For 10+ years of co-working, we could only admire the guys!

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-founder and CEO of an EdTech Startup, Smartest Learning, based in Zurich, Switzerland.

For what projects/services did your company hire Apps with love AG, and what were your goals?

We wanted to develop a mobile App to let teachers and students scan documents and automatically generate interactive exercises from this content.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched for Mobile App development agencies, and Apps with Love was recommended by an acquaintance who had heard positive things about them. We talked to 2 other agencies, the deciding factors were the geographical proximity, the costs, and the reputation.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

We initially ran a market survey together with Apps with Love, to gauge the potential of our idea. We then build a first iOS prototype, expanded it, then built an Android App to complement the iOS App. We published these Apps on the App Store and Google Play, and ran pilots with several schools.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had a project manager, a designer, and two mobile Apps developers. Later on, we developed a Web-app and added a front-end developer, and a tester.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We won the Silver awards at the Best of Swiss Apps 2020 in the categories Innovation and Education technology. Our App had a 4.8 stars rating on the App store.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

We have built a close relationship with regular status updates, we used a Slack channel to exchange information on the project, and face-to-face + Google Meet sessions to run development sprints.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It was our first mobile App, and what impressed me most was the Apps with Love knowledge, helpfulness, and ability to pull expert resources outside of the core project team to help when needed. Beyond the technical development, their marketing team has also helped us find ideas to promote our app. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not really - sometimes status reports were a bit late but that was a minor thing compared to the quality of services we received.
