Our workflow is tremendously good. Their project managers are some of the best in the world. They're extremely patient and capable, and they lay out all my options. What was the scope of their involvement?

At this point, I’ve completed several projects with The APP Solutions. In an engagement a few years ago, their team helped my company with a project for a client. They developed a booking system with a custom interface and integrated it with an existing website’s backend. The APP Solutions created the user flow, connected APIs, and provided custom code. They turned a strictly informational website into a fully interactive booking system for the client’s customers.

On another project, The APP Solutions helped us to build out and develop an MVP for a new advertising service we were creating. They were involved in the product development and conceptualization processes and handled our backend integration. They also connected the ad hoc solution we started with on our own to Google's APIs to create an automated workflow that streamlined our user's experience and reduced the amount of time it took to manage the tool internally. Unfortunately, the base service within Android that we were building our solution on top of was retired by Google, but the project had managed to get quite a few pilot clients before that thanks to the great work The APP Solutions delivered for us. Without their help, this project never would have gotten past the proof of concept stage and been able to become an MVP, with active paying customers.

I speak to the CEO before we start any project to share my needs and ideas. He connects me with a project manager, who will lead a larger team of resources. For example, an internal project that they helped us with involved proximity marketing. We provide a push-notifications marketing solution aiming to cut costs for enterprise businesses. Our startup was launched in early-2013 and acquired in November of that year by a Canadian mobile engagement solutions provider.

What challenge were you trying to address with The App Solutions?

We started out with a small team. We didn't have any full-time mobile developers, and the first version of our software had been developed by one of our founders, who had a background in backend programming. It was slow and ineffective, which is why we contacted The App Solutions' team.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The App Solutions has provided consultation for our technical questions, also helping with the architecture of our backend solution. The App Solutions provided iOS and Android development, but we handled the backend coding in-house.

We also needed to develop an SDK [software development kit] for the Android and iOS platforms, which required around 15 hours of work. We didn't want to hire developers for this work, given that the core of our system consisted of the backend, not the development libraries. The App Solutions helped us launch these 2 libraries, which came to be one of the reasons our company was acquired.

The App Solutions was recommended by a couple of our friends, as well as by our seed investor. We were a small company in need of fast results. The App Solutions guaranteed that they could provide the workforce for our tasks immediately.

We started working with The App Solutions in May 2015, but our consultation process may have started a couple of months before that time. The development part of our work took around 6 weeks to complete.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I don't have any metrics to share, but I am certain that our SDKs were the reason why we received interest from our parent company and several others.

The SDKs were developed in only a couple of weeks. It was a great experience, and we didn't need to wait long for results.

As our internal team focused on web and push notifications, The App Solutions helped us cover the mobile app portion of the work. Before the autumn of 2015, we already had a fully-featured solution for mobile, the web, and desktops.
