Peak Systolic Velocity Predictor app specifications:

1. Introduction: Peak Systolic Velocity (PSV) Predictor is an app for use as a clinical screening tool for patients who have undergone endovascular treatment with Covered Endovascular Reconstruction of Aortoiliac Bifurcation (CERAB) stents. This app will take geometric dimensions and blood flow velocities from ultrasound scanning as well as Ankle Brachial Index readings as input. The app will calculate the predicted maximum velocity and together with the ultrasound measured maximum velocity, it will determine whether the readings are falling inside or outside of acceptable range and deemed to be “Normal” or “Abnormal.”
2. Input Parameters from Ultrasound Scanner: 2.1 Infra-renal velocity, PSVin (m/s) 2.2 Infra-renal aortic diameter, D1 (mm) 2.3 Right Iliac Artery Diameter, D2 (mm) 2.4 Left Iliac Artery Diameter, D3 (mm)h 2.5 Maximum PSV within flow domain, PSVmax(m/s)

User will have two options to enter the PSVmax data. a) Manually type in the value, the app will adjust to one decimal point b) Pull down menu bar with default 1 m/s and increment or decrement of 0.1m/s in the scroll box minimum 0.5 m/s and maximum 5.0 m/s

For input data in section 3, All systolic pressure data: 90..250mmHg User will have two options to enter Systolic Pressure data. a) Manually type in the value, the app will adjust to zero decimal point b) Pull down menu bar with default 120 mmHg and increment or decrement of 1mmHg in the scroll box minimum 90 mmHg and maximum 250mmHg

For option 1, the app will display error message if any user data entered falls outside the range and the app will prompt the user to re-enter the correct data. Please format all input data to one decimal point for section 2 diameter and velocity data and zero decimal for section 3 systolic pressure data.

For output, please make the data point i.e. measured PSV on x-axis and predicted PSV on y-axis blinks on the graph. Likewise the word “Normal” flashes on the screen if the data point fall inside the error zone and “Abnormal” flashes if outside the zone followed by “Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) Recommended!”.

I was the point of contact at this end and Chirag was the point contact at TheAppIdeas where coordinate with his developers regarding my requests.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within a week, both the Android and IOS apps were completed and beta tested off-line. The apps were then officially published at Google Play Store and Apple AppStore in the second week.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication and workflow at The App Ideas were excellent, and everything worked out as planned.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Great communication and timely execution of requested tasks.

Nothing I can think of.

What challenge were you trying to address with The App Ideas?

Our website had been hacked. The hackers took over some of the links and redirected them to other sites. The website obviously needed to be made secure, and to be restored to the way it was.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

The App Ideas supported me to get an SSL certificate and then apply it to the site. I used the Wayback Machine internet archive to show them what the site used to look like last year. Then they did some WordPress development work to reinstate the pages as they were, and removed the links that were made by the hackers to outside sites.  

What is the team composition? 

I started talking to a business consultant. Once the project began, Chirag (CEO, The App Ideas) was my sole point of contact. 

How did you come to work with The App Ideas? 

They reached out to me on LinkedIn and I decided to take a chance on them. At this stage, my requirements were relatively minor. This was a good test of their skills and to see whether they would stick to their word. Plus, they agreed on a low fee.

How much have you invested with them?

I only spent £100 (approximately $125 USD). 

What is the status of this engagement? 

The work was done over the first week of July 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The App Ideas gave me exactly what I wanted. They delivered everything on time and to our specifications. I knew what the site used to look like, so there was no subjectivity with the ask. They effectively delivered the site in exactly the same form that it used to be, with the addition of the SSL certificate and all of the proper links restored. 

How did The App Ideas perform from a project management standpoint? 

It wasn’t a big project but The App Ideas did a good job. We had an opening Skype chat to talk through the project, which was relatively short and sweet. Chirag used WhatsApp to communicate with me throughout the project. It was quite simple because I wasn't trying to communicate a new design, which might have been a harder task. I was able to show them a picture of how the site used to look, and they returned it to that version. 

What did you find most impressive about them? 

The speed with which they completed the project was impressive. Also, it's always great to not spend a lot of money. There was one point in the project where they thought they had finished but they hadn't. I pointed that out to them, and The App Ideas was quick to rectify the situation. Even if our expectations weren't aligned, they default to “the customer is always right.” They completed the project and didn't charge me any more money. They've given me the confidence now to invest with them over additional projects. 

Are there any areas they could improve? 

It's always tricky when you're dealing with an offshore team. The App Ideas didn’t sign a contract with me for this project. While that’s fine for a project of this size, there's a level of professionalism that would be required for larger projects. Clients are going to want the confidence of a contract if they're spending $1,000 or $10,000 or $100,000. They should consider tweaking their engagement methodology to be less relaxed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

My experience so far has been very good, so my advice is to build a relationship. You can feel confident that their work is precise. However, I've not yet given them anything particularly complicated so I don't know the full spectrum of their abilities. Certainly, they have the skills to handle a simple WordPress design.
