What challenge were you trying to address with Algoseed Labs?

We hired Algoseed Labs to develop an online shipment tracking system that sends data to a server. The brief summary shipment information needed to be viewed on the frontend user page of our third-party client’s website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our third-party client needed a custom software that can be integrated in their website. We asked Algoseed Labs to develop a tracking software where people could track their shipments. 

The team built a page inside the website where customers can put their invoice number. They enabled the page to pull data from the tracking system's backend, similar to UPS and FedEx.

The data on that backend was made to be updated every five minutes. Once the client submits their number, they can view information including the delivery schedule, the shipment's origin, the dispatch date, and so on. After they developed our shipment tracker, we had a week of debugging.

They had two members we were working with closely. Additionally, they also had a team of developers based in India.

We have mutual friends who recommended us to them.

We spent $5,000–$6,000 CAD (approximately $3,800–$4,500 USD) for the whole project.

We worked together from September–October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They completed the project successfully and our third-party client was thrilled. For them, the tracking software was a game-changer. 

How did Algoseed Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was perfect and very efficient. We mostly used Slack to communicate and give instructions. It also served as a place where we can see how the programmers were working. We also used monday.com to manage the collaboration.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were quick to respond and we were happy with the way things were. Their ability to react to our issues also impressed us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were times when I had to wait for their work even if they were already finished. It would’ve been nice if they could improve on that communication part. Otherwise, I was very happy. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Team effort is important. Take advantage of working with them as a partner and not just simply delegate tasks. Be involved with the whole process and make sure you can guide them.

I started working with Nick in August 2020. We’ve completed the portal project, but our work is ongoing since I’ve decided to do additional development work with him.

It’s still early in our relationship, but so far, so good. I haven’t gotten any feedback from my customers yet.

Do it. They’re worth it. Just explain what you need clearly.

Our online presence and marketing were nonexistent. We hired them to help us with that process.

The team helped us set up a Shopify website. I had issues with that platform in the past, but they were able to come in and implement something cohesive. We discussed how to present our product properly, how to price things regularly for recurring orders, and what information to display. We put things on the table to compare and contrast against our competitors. They also made a video with their help.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Algoseed Labs delivered everything as expected and better. Without having an online presence, we were missing on sales. It’s helped to close deals for us. We’ve been able to direct people onto the site as opposed to having them call us. Everything’s great from our perspective.

How did Algoseed Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

They managed the entire project. I told them what I wanted, and they were key in getting that done. We used phone, email, and WhatsApp for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The pricing was great. That’s the most important thing for a startup business like ourselves. But the ease of use and direction was also noteworthy. When it came to making the video for our site, they not only suggested it but lead us in the right direction. The ease of being able to communicate when we wanted was definitely a massive difference from other competitors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s not much to be said. We’re very happy with the experience.

Be clear and upfront with what you’re looking for. But also take their advice because it does yield results.
