This project involved the development of a custom WordPress plugin designed to integrate with an external Digital Asset Manager (DAM) via its API. The plugin facilitated the upload of user-submitted videos collected through the WPForms plugin, streamlining the management and organization of digital assets within the DAM.

We needed help with web app development and design.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Algoseed Labs has helped us design and develop our web app. We first discussed the project with them and outlined everything we needed to complete it. I also provided them with suggestions for the technology stack, and they iterated with me on what would be the best solution.

From there, the rest of the process was very easy. Their team built the web app using TypeScript and Mongoose, and they hosted it on AWS. They also provided us with great suggestions along the way. Since then, they’ve been in charge of our app’s maintenance, and they will help us with future updates when needed.

With this app, our users are able to sign up, create an account, and verify their identity through KYC testing. It also has a user wallet feature and tracking functionality to see what the investor is doing on their portfolio.

I’ve mainly worked with Nick (Co-Founder & COO). I’ve also worked with his business partner, a backend developer, and a frontend developer.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to this new app, we’re growing our user base despite our recent launch; we were even getting signups during the pre-launch stage. In general terms, Algoseed Labs’ development process was flawless, and they delivered the product right on time. We’re so satisfied with their work that we’ve even referred them to two other people.

How did Algoseed Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Algoseed Labs’ project management is great. After defining the scope, we created a project management board in a Scrum setup and went from there. Although we stumbled upon a few hiccups during this process, we tackled them, and everything went well.

Aside from the development process, Nick has been great at walking me through various technical aspects even outside of his scope. For example, the other day, I had an issue with Klaviyo, and he took the time to help me with the documentation and walk me through the process.

Communication-wise, Algoseed Labs is very available, and we always get a response in no more than 24 hours. We communicate with them over Slack.

Algoseed Labs’ flexibility and accuracy are impressive. They domain many technologies, and their technical capabilities are on point.

I can’t think of anything that they could improve on.

One of the co-founders of also seeds labs was in constant touch with us and guided us from the very start of the project. He was involved from the conceptualization to the final delivery of the product and even after that. The hardworking team converted our idea into a user-friendly and interactive mobile application through which more than 2 million students are learning to accomplish their dreams today.

We needed a mobile application that could stand out in the market against our well-established competitors. They understood the complexity of the project and delivered us an app with such multiple features and on time. This mobile app is the base of our company and our growth somehow depicts their top services.

They are great at it. None of the members in their team made us ask for updates again and again. They used to stay connected with us through Skype. Whenever required, they added on their suggestions throughout the project and delivered all the modules on time.

I’m the founder of a company that connects people’s online shopping habits with initiatives for bettering the environment.

What challenge were you trying to address with Algoseed Labs?

I’m not a technical person but I’m trying to set up a technology company. I brought in Algoseed Labs to create a tool that centers on usable energy. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We jump-started the project with me providing documentation and Algoseed Labs doing some research and discovery. Their team has connected the dots and allowed me to see the limitations of the technology available, especially with small aspects of the product such as the Facebook and Google login.

They are now building a Google Chrome extension according to my specifications. They also manage the images to ensure consistency. Using HTML and JavaScript, Algoseed Labs builds the front- and backend along with features like a streamlined sign-in function, table of users, appointment templates, and connection with other databases. We’ve made a few changes along the way to try to adapt to certain situations that I had not thought about but that they were able to bring up. 

What is the team composition?

I’m in contact with four people, but I think there are more members working behind the scenes.

How did you come to work with Algoseed Labs?

I had gone through a pretty rigorous interview process with different developers but decided to hire Algoseed Labs in the end because I, as a non-technical person, was able to use common parlance with them to get the result I wanted. Developers I had worked with previously had to read between the lines to find the best solution, whereas Algoseed Labs have a very good understanding of what I mean.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in April 2021. We’re not totally finished with this piece of work, but we’re near the end and will probably need to do some more development afterwards.

Algoseed Labs has definitely demonstrated their solid culture and the quality of their work. They’ve been very good at assigning tasks to different members of their team. They check in with me every day and at every milestone, which is very important especially when working remotely. Them showing me their progress and results almost every day, or simply coming to me for more guidance, has created a sense of trust between us.

How did Algoseed Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via Slack every day and have Zoom calls whenever I ask. They’re in constant communication with me, which is wonderful because I like hearing from my partners. I’ve worked with quite a few remote developers who were annoyingly hard to reach and would ignore my questions until they had an answer, but this team is always very quick to get back to me with at least some kind of response, if not the perfect answer. It has helped me understand that they’re actually doing the legwork. 

Algoseed Labs has also been really good at the research element of the project. They let me know about the different things we could try, their level of complexity, and the cost.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their work is very good and their communication is amazing. Algoseed Labs has the ability to hold the hand of a non-technical partner through the project, which is something I’ve not experienced anywhere else.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I know that the more time we spend catching up on Zoom, the less time they have to do the development work. However, given the speed at which they’re doing things, I probably wouldn’t change anything. They’ve been great.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

There are no stupid questions with Algoseed Labs. Even if you don’t know what to ask, they will find out for you. Other developers find that being asked a lot of questions or updates is a hassle, but Algoseed Labs is happy to provide all the information, like how long the project is going to take or if a timeline is going to change. Be in contact with them as much as possible.

Algoseed Labs was tasked with speeding up our Shopify website. Additionally, we wanted to apply minor modifications to our platform and other things that needed to be coded. One of the modifications they did was the sizing of our product pages.

They’re a local company from Montreal, and my partner knew someone that collaborated with them. He suggested that we reach out to them.

Our engagement was in August 2020. It took them almost a week to complete the project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

It’s hard to say what the future impact will be, but we know that for Google ratings and SEO, page speed is a very important factor in a website’s performance. With regard to that, our website is a lot faster now.

Our platform also looks better with the small modifications that Algoseed integrated. In conclusion, we were happy with their services, especially considering we’ve hired other people before and received negative results.

They developed everything quickly, and they kept in communication with us throughout the project. They also understood what we needed to be done. Overall, we never had any issues with their project management process.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

The most impressive thing was their communication skills. Additionally, they delivered everything that we wanted. It was a pretty rare experience.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In terms of this specific project, I don’t think they had any areas that they could have improved upon; the task was quite simple and straightforward.

Just be clear about what you want so that they have evident guidelines on what they need to follow. Some people are not clear on what they want and then end up dissatisfied when they never made it clear in the beginning.

We hired Algoseed Labs to develop an online shipment tracking system that sends data to a server. The brief summary shipment information needed to be viewed on the frontend user page of our third-party client’s website. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our third-party client needed a custom software that can be integrated in their website. We asked Algoseed Labs to develop a tracking software where people could track their shipments. 

The team built a page inside the website where customers can put their invoice number. They enabled the page to pull data from the tracking system's backend, similar to UPS and FedEx.

The data on that backend was made to be updated every five minutes. Once the client submits their number, they can view information including the delivery schedule, the shipment's origin, the dispatch date, and so on. After they developed our shipment tracker, we had a week of debugging.

They had two members we were working with closely. Additionally, they also had a team of developers based in India.

We have mutual friends who recommended us to them.

We spent $5,000–$6,000 CAD (approximately $3,800–$4,500 USD) for the whole project.

We worked together from September–October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

They completed the project successfully and our third-party client was thrilled. For them, the tracking software was a game-changer. 

How did Algoseed Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management was perfect and very efficient. We mostly used Slack to communicate and give instructions. It also served as a place where we can see how the programmers were working. We also used monday.com to manage the collaboration.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were quick to respond and we were happy with the way things were. Their ability to react to our issues also impressed us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were times when I had to wait for their work even if they were already finished. It would’ve been nice if they could improve on that communication part. Otherwise, I was very happy.

Team effort is important. Take advantage of working with them as a partner and not just simply delegate tasks. Be involved with the whole process and make sure you can guide them.
