I am the Executive Director of Virtues Matter, a US based nonprofit helping people apply virtues in all areas of their lives.

For what projects/services did your company hire Aim Edge Apps, and what were your goals?

We developed an app that offers simple guidance to help people cultivate their virtues, qualities such as compassion, excellence, gratitude, strength, hope, resilience and justice. Like a book of daily readings, it is designed to help people achieve a strong focus on their personal and spiritual growth, only with far greater utility.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

They were highly recommended by a friend who also developed an app. We had previously developed the app with another vendor and had a horrible experience. I checked references and spent time with Ivan M. the CEO and decided this would be a good collaboration.

The team has helped with both fixes and maintenance of the current version of the app and helped add many new functions. They are great partners in helping us talk through design options, best practices and cost saving measures.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Ivan serves as the project manager and he has a team of 2-3 developers who work on the project as needed. The team has also helped with some graphic design work for images within the app.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

They have developed new capabilities as requested always in a timely manner. Recently, they build a simple ecommerce platform and extracted key data from our app.

I cannot say enough positive about Ivan and the team. They have been a joy to work with on a personal level. Professionally, they organize all requirements and outcomes in ways that makes my life as a customer easy. They are excellent communicators and thoughtful partners.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their collaborative nature. They learned about our app and jumped in to help us fix some critical bugs. They are true partners and I feel they truly care for my needs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We had one instance where we both didn't communicate well on timelines and had to set up some reporting norms. We addressed it and all seems well now.

I hired Aim Edge to build a mobile application that can run on Apple iOS and Google Android.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I was interviewing several software developers, and this team stood out with their communication skills, expertise and knowledge of the platforms I was interested in.

The team took my initial proposal and GUI designs and broke them down into building blocks and tickets. From there we prioritized and set a realistic schedule for build and rollout. Complexity was spent on setting up an AWS architecture for performance, security, backup, development, redundancy, and scalability. I quickly got my hands on a working version, through TestFlight, and from then on it was integration of features. QA procedures and rigorous smoke tests were put in place to catch errors. A custom Admin web page was created to monitor statistics and backend functionality.

The number of people have fluctuated but basically there are four: three developers, one serving as senior developer, and a project manager also serving as QA.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The deliverables have been consistent. There was an initial foundation and architecture that needed to be built for the mobile app, and once that was completed, we focused on building the specific functionality, which was broken down into sprints. Sprints are released in a timely fashion. As I feed the team new features, they get prioritized along with fixing existing bugs, improving app performance, and enhancing overall security.

I interface primarily with the senior software developer, we meet once a week via Zoom. Sometimes the project manager joins. Project manager sends weekly updates on tickets and team progress. All my feedback and communication is via email to the team.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This company provides clear and concise communication. The deliverables are exactly what was discussed, there are no surprises. If issues arise, they are brought to my attention. What I like most is that the team engages in the product I am building and finds solutions that meet the objective.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The team has been strong on their solutions building and deliverables. The project has grown in complexity with features and platforms being supported. Therefore, QA has become more demanding and critical. It is impossible to catch all bugs. I would say more time can be spent on testing and looking at all the ways the app performance can be improved. Design is not their strong suit. They do provide in-house design solutions but I found providing and supplying designs from my own app designers was highly effective, the team worked better and could focus on software development.

We hired Aim Edge Apps to perform web development. They created a system for us to manage our cases and documents. They also renewed our digital marketing processes and content.

How did you select Aim Edge Apps and what were the deciding factors?

We had seen some of their past work and were impressed with the positive comments we received from colleagues already using them for technology services.

We started with a discovery phase and then went into a blueprinting phase. Once we were happy with the design, they performed the coding and developed the system. The key deliverable was the ability to manage our case loads and corresponding documents.

The technologies used were PHP, Bootstrap, MySQL, and Joomla.

The team consisted of 1 Team Lead/Technology Architect, 2 Full Stack Engineers, and a Requirements/Quality Engineer.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We were happy with the results and we're glad we chose Aim Edge Apps as our partner. They really help us understand the web development process and delivered on their promises.

For project management, we used Jira and Microsoft Project, along with Confluence. We followed the Agile methodology of SCRUM and used Zoom for daily meetings.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They were very knowledgeable of technical option available and were able to walk us through multiple scenarios. This allow us to make good decision for our system. They were easy to work with, and the scheduling was never an issue.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

No, but in looking back we probably should have brought them into the project sooner.
