Agilno completed development of a React Native mobile application that their team had started for a prior client and company we acquired. They also continued full-stack development of our own web application featuring a B2B dashboard and suite of products, as well as a B2B2C user dashboard. Agilno performed front-end and back-end development work, QA testing, scoping, and other ongoing maintenance services.

• Completion of deliverables on a biweekly agile sprint cadence.

I’m a strategic advisor at a company that makes specialized software for banks, insurance companies, and other enterprise software companies. We turn Microsoft Excel spreadsheets into cloud-based APIs so that our customers can modernize, transform, and scale their operations safely and securely.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agilno?

We were looking to complete two things: create a series of demonstrations of finished applications showing the capabilities of scaling with our software, and engaging specialized features in our core software.

What was the scope of their involvement?

All the projects that Agilno works on are software projects, so we go through a requirements and design phase, systems development, phase testing, and deployment. 

The team is building sample applications based on business inputs and demands and integrating specialized workbooks and Microsoft Excel to create finished applications to be used as learning samples. Agilno has created six digital products for us and has been involved in every level of the process. 

Dependent on the feature, we’ll provide Agilno with documentation or wireframes to start. This outlines identified inputs, outputs, and behavior implemented in an API to be turned into a UI. From there, Agilno creates their own wireframes, and we collaborate with them to complete and refine the UI elements. 

Internally, we rely on Agilno for their skills regarding add-ins and building deeper technology that requires more requirements and operations than it does UX.

We work with 5–10 people, depending on what we’re working on. 

How did you come to work with Agilno?

I’ve been working with startups for a long time and was looking for highly skilled people to add to projects as project leads. I went to a Slack channel and posted our needs. The CEO from Agilno reached out, and we interviewed from there. 

They had a lot of the attributes we were looking for, and after a few more interviews, we engaged them on a special project. The project was difficult and required a lot of moving parts, but Agilno was able to execute everything we needed. We’ve been bringing them in for larger projects since then. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We engaged them in November 2022, and the partnership is ongoing. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The quality across iterations is high, and they’re able to engage in an agile fashion to complete work with minimal requirements. When we give them requirements, they give us the first rendition of sample work in five days; we would normally expect this process to take 20–30 days. 

They are one of our best partners and take advantage of our techniques and automation to create applications. The way they work with our tools saves us all 50% of the time normally spent on the project, and we increase quality by 90% because we’re engaged in co-generation. 

How did Agilno perform from a project management standpoint?

We work in sprints and have created a backlog that we work against depending on the project and features Agilno is building. We use Scrum communication and Microsoft Teams to gather files, run meetings, engage in corporate communications, and for specific backlogs. We use Jira for the Agile lifecycle, and combine assets used to build out support requests, changes, and issues regularly. We meet twice a week and run multiple projects in parallel. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Agilno works very quickly and is able to marry their technology with ours in record time. They are highly communicative and make sure that we’re aligned. Agilno takes minimal information and creates finished work from that. They are also creative; regardless of what we give them, they produce something better than expected. 

We appreciate that when Agilno creates something, it always works. When there is an issue, they communicate it quickly, but their software techniques are stable. The team cares about us and the project, which is difficult to find. 

The team is deeply knowledgeable about how to build software quickly and takes advantage of modern technology, which is incredibly rare. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We want them to continue scaling and building upon their successes. We’re going to keep growing and want them to be able to grow with us.

Follow their practices because they’re incredibly advanced. They work directly with software companies to build their first MVPs, so they know how to make a company successful with technology.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

The project initially commenced as upgrading an existing product that was acquired but it was the base product was deemed to be not a viable donor product to start from and the decision was made to start from scratch. This included extensive meeting on design, UX/UI, integrations with existing products and external data sources. 

Project management was done in with our staff and a lead from Agilno through the early part of the build process to get the product to the first stage of development. This was an extensive period that covered 18 plus months of a very close working relationship. The final stage commenced in July of 2021 and included significantly more advanced features and integrations and a refining of the UI.

 A customer management tool was also designed and integrated in with a complete billing management tool that integrated with existing financial systems. A significant pivot occurred with the product as well that required another complete "Module" to be built that addressed a new market that the product would be marketed to. 

This was a very significant project that continues with ongoing refining and enhancements plus additional integrations to best meet the ever changing needs of existing and new clients.

• We had various launches and milestones during this build phase: 1. Initial MVP launch to existing customer in: December 2021 2. Rollout to prospects and leads in: January 2022 3. Trade show launch: March 2022 4. New component release for new customer segment and billing modules: December 2022 5. Additional add on component release for larger customer segment: Summer 2023 All deadlines and timelines were met without exception.

We had a lead project manager that was assigned to the project and stayed with the project from day one.The project manager became a specialist on the project and worked very closely with our internal team and required very little guidance for managing their developers. 

Timelines were never an issue and if the team felt that timelines we were proposing were not realistic then conversations were always open and clear well in advance to ensure we were all on the same page.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their ability to shift and pivot based on what the original project was and where it ultimately ended up. This was done fairly seamlessly and with little stress. We were also very impressed with the cost effectiveness of their services when compared to other external teams that were also contracted for dev services.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Agilno could have done differently?

Nothing specific that we would suggest.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agilno?

We wanted to build software to automate key business processes. In particular, we wanted to build a chrome extension that would automate some simple repeatable workflows on sites we frequently visit.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first phase was them understanding the requirements and scope of the project. They helped us understand the different options available to us, and the different budget and scope constraints that each of those options would entail. On our end, we provided them with mockups, which we used as a jumping-off point for defining the scope of work.

What is the team composition?

I worked with one project lead, as well as a couple of other teammates as well.

How did you come to work with Agilno?

I found them through a dev team freelancer platform. They had good reviews and they were the right size for our firm at the time.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $16,500. It’s great because we were quoted $18,000–$20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2019 and wrapped up in June 2019.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were able to automate the Chrome process that we needed. It saves us at least a couple of hours of work per day, which equals almost $1,500 per month.

How did Agilno perform from a project management standpoint?

Our contact was a strong communicator. We set up weekly check-in calls, and they were helpful in being transparent about the project.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very trustworthy. The team never overbills and only employs high-quality developers. Overall, they build good products, communicate well, and their team delivers high quality, which is very important.

No, not off of the top of my head.

I’m the co-founder and director of Cro-bit. We offer search monetization solutions for Chrome extensions, add-ons, software and desktop applications with Google, Bing, and Yahoo.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agilno?

We wanted to develop a faster and more efficient way to deliver daily statistics to the companies that work with us. We also needed some additional support with coding and building an advertising system. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Agilno improved all of our databases and our base code. Their team took everything that we've had partially built by different developers, and recoded it and built it in one system. The development was done with Angular.js. They used MySQL for the advertising system and MongoDB for the tracking system. 

What is the team composition?

My main point of contact is Petar (CEO, Agilno). There are at least two or three team members working with him on our project including a designer. 

How did you come to work with Agilno?

I heard about Agilno from some of their previous clients. We started working with them on smaller projects initially but eventually had them take on a larger development role. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $100,000-$200,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with Agilno in September 2017 and our engagement with them is ongoing. We also have future projects with Agilno for an additional $200,000.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The work they do is excellent. With our previous system, there was a backlog of about four days to deliver statistical analysis to our clients. With the system Petar and his team built, statistical updates are delivered in minutes. 

How did Agilno perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re good, but their team has many other clients so they’re very busy. However, when Petar has time, he is very dedicated and detail-oriented. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They are determined to deliver. Even when there are setbacks, they work to find a solution. We haven’t worked with other developers as dedicated to problem-solving as them. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be beneficial for Agilno to hire more people so they can expand their business and offer more support to existing clients.

We needed a software agency that would help us build extension for chrome store.

What were your goals for this project?

Firstly, we started by giving them small tasks. Eg. creating a simple product, but later, we continued to work together and moved to larger stuff.

We heard about them via word of mouth. Soon, as we found their contact online, we scheduled a Skype call.

They developed, packaged and redistributed our extensions to us. They created a finished product, so we just placed them on the market.

About ten people worked on our project. Half of them were programmers and the rest were Photoshop and copywriting experts.

We doubled our income in few months, due to the fact that we could focus on SEO and marketing rather than the product itself.

They met our deadlines on time. Listened to our suggestions and were very patient with our requests for changing particular things on products. We contacted exclusively via Skype.

Their customer support is fast. They report back in less than an hour when we send a message.

There is very little to improve. Maybe only hire more people so that they become faster in finishing clients projects.

Introduce your business and what you do there.

Our company is focused on data analytics for medical cannabis patients. We have a mobile app for Android and iOS, where medical patients can log their symptoms, what products they’re using, and how it’s affecting them.

We collect this data, on top of which there’s an analytics platform built for doctors, clinics, and researchers. The government uses the data we collect to do an analysis of different cannabis products and how they affect people in general.

I’m a product owner in the company, responsible for managing the functionalities and product backlog. I work with the development team to get these products out into the market.

What challenge were you trying to address with Agilno?

They’ve been our development partner from the start. Agilno takes care of the entire development and DevOps process. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The team at Agilno has been responsible for setting up our entire server infrastructure, developing our app, and developing our analytics.  We also have custom SaaS solutions for some of our clients.

The app was originally built as a hybrid, and that’s the version we currently have in our app stores. We’re making an upgraded version of the app now, which will be native instead of a hybrid. 

It's a data collection tool for medical cannabis patients to input their symptoms, how often they’re medicating, and the effects of the products on their symptoms. 

The app logs a session each time a patient uses cannabis. We provide information back to the patient on how well they’re doing and which product to use. It also serves as an educational tool to find out what others who are suffering from the same symptoms, in the same demographic profile, are taking.

Agilno also developed an administrative platform where we can manage users, analytics subscribers, and products. It also uses Django on the backend, and the frontend is built on React.js. We originally built the analytics platform on AngularJS, and now it’s on Vue.js.

What is the team composition?

We have a team of seven people, comprised of a lead, backend resources, and frontend resources.

How did you come to work with Agilno?

They were already working for the company when I started.

How much have you invested with them?

I’m not privy to those numbers. Given the amount of work they’ve done, between the app, analytics, and all the custom work they did, I’d say we invested roughly at $450,000–$500,000 Canadian dollars (Approximately $200,000 to $999,999 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

I started working for the company in July of 2018, and Agilno has been here since 2016. The collaboration is ongoing, and they’re an integral part of our organization.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve always gotten positive feedback from users on the app and the analytics. It’s our primary tool since everything else is dependent on the data we gather from users.

We’ve gotten feedback from different clinics and doctors, and Agilno was always open to making the changes required to better-serve subscribers. The quality of Agilno’s work, its design, and the usability are awesome.

How did Agilno perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re responsible for passing requirements on to them, and they take care of the technical documentation, implementation, and process. They decided which technologies and methodologies to use. 

We’re in Canada, and they’re six hours ahead of us. But, communication with the team has been pretty seamless. We’re mainly in touch with their lead. Working with Agilno never felt like using a third party or external vendor. It feels as though we are one team working together to deliver a product. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve worked with other external vendors on development before. Since Agilno is a smaller agency, they’re more focused on their work. They always take it upon themselves to make sure that the work is of the highest quality. If it relates to any processes that need to be followed, it’s standard they will exceed our expectations.

If they make a commitment to deliver something by a certain date, they’ll always deliver. We never have to follow up on what’s happening with a deliverable. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

We have a six-hour time difference, but there’s never been a time when we need them late in the day. Even if we needed them late in their day, they were always available. 

Sometimes, it’s good to have a process around things. Most of the time, there is, but it could be improved. Talking from the perspective of my relationship with them, the process could be a bit more streamlined.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

Agilno is a very nice development partner to have. It never felt like working with a third-party company. They work as true partners. They’re in our success, and they’re in our failures. 

They are probably one of the best teams out there for people looking for Django or Python development. They’re equally good at doing web and mobile apps.

They have assigned resources for web-based apps and mobile apps. Anytime we’ve needed staff augmentation or had to replace someone, Agilno was very quick. We’ve never been assigned a resource that we had to replace.

They designed developed and tested both applications in time and with great sense for details. They were suggesting updates in requirements as they saw some things that customer missed. Customers were satisfied as some important features were actually missing from original set of requirements. After some intial design phase, we had demos every two weeks and someone from BitElements was approving merge requests they had. I was very satisfied with the work they did.

There was one frontend mobile developer and one backend developer involved. Graphical designer as well in the beginning.
