Each morning, we review work that has been done on Figma. We provide feedback via comments on Figma, and our designer would implement the changes, or request clarifcation. Our measure of successful was 1) did the designs match our UX stories and 2) did the speed of design match our expectations.

Overall, the project has been management very well. Communication has been good and our design has done a great job at really thinking through the UI/UX to make sure it's as good as it can be. We've had a great working relationship.

I’m the fractional CMO, so I am the effective head of marketing for an imaging technology company based in Durham, North Carolina. We develop microscopes, hardware, and related imaging software to analyze images captured by the microscope. Basically, we operate in the biotechnology and tooling space.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Widelab?
Initially, we needed help with deck design.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
At first, Widelab designed our investor PowerPoint decks. Later, we decided to engage them for a full website refresh. They worked on the site's UX/UI design using Figma, helped us create wireframes, and conceptually discussed the content we desired and determined in what format. They then designed the website and implemented it in Webflow.
What is the team composition?
We worked with three people, their main three key internal resources. We worked with a UX designer, another designer, and a developer from Widelab.
How did you come to work with Widelab?
They were a referral from a designer.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $10,000–$50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with them in October 2024, and the website went live in January 2025.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We showed investors Widelab's design deck, and they were really impressed with the design. Widelab did such an incredible job on this that we decided to invest in the website refresh with them, even if it wasn't originally planned this way.
We gave them six weeks to do this refresh. They worked through the holidays, which made them stand out as partners. Finally, they successfully implemented the UX/UI design and delivered the website. They got it done! It went live last week. Overall, the team did an incredible job and completely elevated our brand.
How did Widelab perform from a project management standpoint?
It's worth noting that they hit very aggressive deadlines. They were all fantastic. I have a lot of experience in website design, so the experience was quite collaborative. We mainly worked in Figma and communicated via Slack, video calls, and email.
Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?
I want to give a shout-out to Weronika. At some point, we talked about the hero section of our homepage, and even though we gave vague directions, she quickly grasped what we wanted. She then sent an incredible design iteration, which honestly surprised me. She was really responsive.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were responsive and easy to work with. The whole process was seamless. They were amazing, and I honestly plan to continue working with them indefinitely.
Are there any areas they could improve?
There’s nothing they can improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Work relationships such as this are successful because both sides are very responsive. So, be responsive to Widelab and engage with them in a way that sets a cadence of speedy, respectful, and thoughtful back-and-forth. That will hopefully help you move quickly and efficiently.

The project involved both UX and UI aspects. In the initial stage, the UX Designer conducted an analysis of our and the different users' needs and prepared wireframes in continuous collaboration with us. We had two meetings per week during which we exchanged knowledge to inform the UX Designer's wireframe creations, and we provided feedback. After completing the UX phase, we moved on to the UI phase.
During the UI phase, the Project Manager conducted interviews regarding the brand that would be applied to the project. We established where we could go beyond the brand and defined the color requirements for the project.
Since our target audience operates in specific conditions, accessibility was particularly important. We successfully achieved this goal in the second phase, where the UI designer worked on the wireframes. Additionally, we continued to communicate twice a week through calls until we achieved the desired outcome.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
The project achieved several outcomes that demonstrate progress and success:
User-Friendly Design: Thanks to the detailed UX phase, we were able to create a user-friendly flow for the application. Despite its highly technical nature, the product needed to be straightforward and easy to comprehend. Users, who operate in challenging lighting and noisy conditions, will be able to navigate the application effortlessly, ensuring quick access to all necessary information and actions.
Improved Accessibility: Considering the specific working conditions of the target audience, accessibility was a major focus. The UI phase successfully addressed these challenges, making sure that users could interact with the application without difficulty, even under demanding circumstances.
Enhanced Safety: Given the safety requirements, it was crucial to provide users with a clear and intuitive interface to avoid potential hazards. The project achieved this goal, ensuring that users could easily access all essential information and perform necessary actions in a safe manner.
Engaging User Experience: The application's design suggested a visual hierarchy that guided users effectively, directing their attention to the most important elements. This resulted in an engaging and satisfying user experience.
Overall, the project successfully met its biggest challenge, creating a technically complex yet user-friendly and accessible application.

The workflow between our team and theirs was highly effective. The project management process was well-prepared, emphasizing communication, feedback, and accessibility. Both the Designers and the Project Manager were readily available to us throughout the entire project, promptly responding to messages and addressing requests.
We maintained contact through two weekly calls, and they also provided written updates, ensuring that we were always informed about the project's progress. Moreover, the Project Manager kept us informed about the planned completion dates for each stage, and the project was completed ahead of the initial roadmap's predictions. This effective communication and proactive approach resulted in a successful collaboration, allowing the project to be completed earlier than expected.

Firstly, the Project Manager orchestrated the project's flow exceptionally well, giving us a sense of control and transparency throughout the entire process. This allowed us to stay on top of the project's progress and have a clear understanding of its development.
Secondly, the designers dived into the specific problem domain very well and presented ideas that went way further than the original design. They delivered a modern, clean, and up-to-date design that adhered to the latest standards, showcasing their creativity and expertise. We would like to mention especially Kinga, the UX Designer. She conducted in-depth interviews, ensuring a thorough grasp of the requirements.
Kinga was always well-prepared for our calls, and her proactive approach led to continuous improvements and better solutions. With her excellent analytical and organizational skills, she structured and sharpened the design and was key to creating a better application than we originally thought we could get. Besides that, it was easy and always a pleasure to work with her.
Overall, they demonstrated professionalism, creativity, and a strong commitment to achieving the best results for the project. Their collaborative and supportive approach made the entire process enjoyable and productive.
