The scope of work that EffectiveSoft provided was comprehensive and dealt with all stages of the app development process, from design to release. This included market research, UI/UX design, and prototyping, development, to name a few. EffectiveSoft also provided final testing and QA to ensure the app was functional. Here are the key deliverables in more details: 

The team at EffectiveSoft developed mobile apps complementing the web trading platform supported by microservice-based back end. They hosted the server part on Microsoft Azure to ensure fault tolerance and scalability of the platform. In addition, the developers created an admin panel with the Analytics, Settings, and Support tools. 

To support trading activities, the platform ships with numerous options: Tradable assets: stocks, cryptocurrency, ETFs, futures, Forex pairs. 

Some features of the apps are: asset search, watchlist management, trading mode selection, manual or automatic order management options. 

Tools: profit/loss calculator, account performance view, instrument view, charts, trading history, dividends history.

Working with EffectiveSoft has been a great experience. The solution has gotten positive feedback from users. They do a good job and are very responsive whenever we’ve had bugs. Since ours isn’t consumer software, we don’t have quantitative metrics.

Their project management has been good overall; my point of contact from EffectiveSoft is excellent. We use email to communicate.

I appreciate that I can give EffectiveSoft the idea of what I want, and they do a good job designing it. We’ve left the designs up to them, and they’ve been very creative.

Effectivesoft provided us with staffing for our Web application development and our mobile apps. Initially they were most instrumental in helping us develop a QR code based workflow solutions and Beacon based management of service tasks. Our goal was to build a comprehensive platform for maintenance and service purposes.

Another software company we worked with referred us to Effectivesoft due to the complexities of our product.

We wrote the web application ourselves and asked Effectivesoft to help us with extending it with mobile capabilities and other significant features. We used all available technologies that would allow us to scale, stay flexible and work cross platform.

We have adapted our staffing over the years depending on need. Originally we worked only with a pm and a web and mobile developer. At times we have expanded that up to a full stack team where only design was kept on our side.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Major feature and version delivery has been executed efficiently and effectively. We have been able to build out the application to a full featured platform able to support multiple tenants on Azure.

Agile and flexible. Their staff strives to adhere to best practices. They are also flexible and helpful enough to understand that purposeful shortcuts and temporary solutions have a place in the overal process as well. We found the project managers to give enough push-back to ensure optimal results were achieved, but at the same time able to allow for our unique way of working due to our experience and knowledge.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Ability to constructively provide feedback and guidance and looking for creative solutions to unique challenges. Also the ability to work independently without hand holding.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We are extremely happy with the delivery and results. From time to time we needed better communication about vacations and availability issues, where we would have appreciated knowing why certain deliverables were not as timely as we expected. However our request for this information was always honored once it was clear.

EffectiveSoft provided us with a great software engineer who has worked with us since we initially engaged them. We’ve continued expanding upon their responsibilities, and they’ve continued to accept challenges and integrate with our team. They’ve become mission-critical resources for us. 

Since working with EffectiveSoft, we’ve grown our company from the building phase to the profitability phase. Their development and implementation efforts have contributed to our business-critical product design features.   

How did EffectiveSoft perform from a project management standpoint?

EffectiveSoft has provided resources who communicate effectively with no language barrier. Furthermore, the resources work independently with minimal direction, which is great. We typically meet via Zoom and communicate via Slack. We also use Jira, GitHub, GitLab, and Google Workspace for project management purposes. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

EffectiveSoft has been very flexible with on-demand work. They’ve also made it very easy for us to engage resources on a trial basis, and swap them out when they’re not the right fit. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

Finding senior-level resources is challenging for every company, so I’d advise EffectiveSoft to nurture their high-end resources, so they can step in to help kick off or wrap up projects.

I recommend taking time zones into consideration when organizing your project schedule.

Hiring software engineers domestically is challenging, so we needed an offshore team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

EffectiveSoft provides us with a flexible workforce and takes care of recruitment. We initially hired one of their engineers for a year and a half. Then, we decided to expand the team and put more projects through.

They do custom software development for us, and we manage the team and do the design. They use .NET, JavaScript, and Vue.js. Additionally, they’ve built our WordPress website from scratch.

What is the team composition?

We started with one engineer and then expanded to 6–7 teammates. We’ve used WordPress developers occasionally, and a project manager works consistently with us.

How did you come to work with EffectiveSoft?

I found them through a friend. He had a longstanding relationship with EffectiveSoft, so I contacted them and decided to run a pilot program.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $2.5 million so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in June 2016. We expanded the team about four years ago, and we’ve had a consistently-sized team since then.

We manage the development team closely and are happy with the results we get. The implementation of our cloud site and product is proof that they’ve been effective.

How did EffectiveSoft perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been very responsive about management issues. Whenever we have an engineer that’s not performing well, they’re good at handling the situation. Moreover, we have excellent communication despite the different time zones; their team’s leaders are frequently in touch with us. We mainly use Slack for communication and Jira for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very responsive to our needs, and their engineers are highly capable. Their service is very effective.

Are there any areas they could improve?

My primary concern is the cost. Their prices have been rising a bit, so I sometimes worry about it.

I’d recommend having somebody technical on your side and a fairly strong DevOps capability to work with them.

What challenge were you trying to address with EffectiveSoft?

We were struggling to get the right people and resources. We hired EffectiveSoft for expertise in IoT and sending data to a server that we could remotely access while staying compliant with HIPAA requirements.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We provided EffectiveSoft with the hardware and a small amount of documentation. They took the code that we already had, cleaned it up, and added the required modules to create the functionality that we needed. Most of what EffectiveSoft did for us was software development using Visual Studio, .NET, and Postman. The code reading was in C#.  

EffectiveSoft primarily took the database that existed in the machines and medical devices, and collected data that was connected to a server using AWS or Azure. They made sure that the data was robust and properly uploaded. They also provided a simple frontend using JavaScript where we could access and manipulate the data.

We worked with a project manager and three other individuals.

They were referred to us by someone we had worked with previously.

They provided us with a great working product. They delivered everything we needed and verified that it worked in our hardware as required.

They were incredibly impressive in terms of their project management. They had thorough documentation for everything, and created a detailed project schedule. Their communication was fantastic, and they consistently kept us in the loop with weekly meetings They made sure that we were always sticking to the original timeline, and that everything stayed within budget. 

We communicated with Zoom, and we used Jira and GitHub. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very professional in their approach to the work, and their project management went above and beyond what we expected. Very few companies are as thorough as they were in terms of keeping tabs on everything and ensuring things were being completed on time and within budget. EffectiveSoft delivered exactly what they promised.

There’s nothing that we can come up with.

Follow their lead when they direct you, especially involving meetings and timelines.

They're good developers who are both fast and intelligent. They also have an extraordinary work ethic. Specifically, we were incredibly impressed with Oleg and all the work that he did for us.

The only thing I can think of was that sometimes there was a little bit of a language barrier, but I can't think of any other areas where they could have improved.

They are the best offshore developer I've ever worked with, and I've worked with multiple. They deliver on what they say they are going to, and they do things smoothly.

I’m the president of WeGotCode, a custom software development company in Atlanta, Georgia.

What challenge were you trying to address with EffectiveSoft? 

We had a React Native project and a native iOS and Android implementation. We didn’t have these skills in-house, so we needed contractors for the projects.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Our first project was a rewrite of an old app. We used React Native and JavaScript, which allowed apps to run on both iOS and Android platforms. The deliverable was for a trucking and logistics company. 

In the second project, we worked on an existing app for one of our end clients. We didn’t write the original code base, and extending and modifying the app was quite challenging. The key languages we used were Swift and Kotlin. This project was for a medical test company and the collection of lab tests. 

What is the team composition?

We had two developers from EffectiveSoft for both of the projects. Full-time developers worked on the first project. The developers started working full-time for the second project but switched to part-time. I also worked with project managers by email, albeit rarely. 

How did you come to work with EffectiveSoft?

We interviewed a handful of firms and developers. I initially had back-and-forth conversations with EffectiveSoft to determine the availability of the developers. Our team decided to go with them because of the performance of their developers. 

How much have you invested with them?

Our investment was around $60,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement lasted from December 2021–March 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The apps required little rework, and the feedback from the end clients was great. A couple of bugs needed to be fixed, but they were minimal. Overall, EffectiveSoft did a good job. 

How did EffectiveSoft perform from a project management standpoint?

We typically communicated by email or Zoom. Our coordination was a combination of Zoom meetings; we used Slack daily to send messages back and forth. For one client, we used Jira. They used Azure DevOps for some of the work. 

Moreover, EffectiveSoft developers knocked out deliverables quickly, and that was excellent. Their written communication was great, but we occasionally struggled with voice calls — this wasn’t an issue on the project. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The quality of their developers was impressive. EffectiveSoft was great at retaining talented developers. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there wasn’t any.

Make sure you have plenty of work lined up in backlog for EffectiveSoft developers to do to keep them busy.
