What challenge were you trying to address with Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd?

We were looking to outsource our medical billing application project and needed a partner with experience building solutions for healthcare telemedicine systems. Our client wanted a billing system to focus on behavioral and rehabilitation clinics. Even though they had experience managing healthcare revenue, their prior system was a patchwork of semi-automated technologies and was encountering several operational obstacles:

• Frequent rejections of claims because of erroneous or a lack of appropriate coding.
• An unsettling increase in accounts receivable (A/R) days, which was delaying the flow of income.
• Due to the manual tracking and correction of claims, the team was overburdened.
• The inefficiencies weren't only annoying but also expensive and time-consuming.

We hired Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd to build a custom SaaS-based platform designed to streamline revenue cycle management (RCM) with advanced features like auto-claim validation, automated clearinghouse integration, and real-time dashboards that are integrated with Change Healthcare and Availity to deliver a comprehensive end-to-end solution for modern healthcare billing needs.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd has developed a complete web-based solution with super admin and billing admin/team-based access. The main deliverables include:

• Designing and developing the medical billing application
• AWS migration and hosting
• Integration with Change Healthcare and Availity
• Training material for the billing team
• Ongoing support for enhancements and bug fixing

What is the team composition?

A 10-member team, including a project manager, business analyst, developers, designers, and QA specialists, has been working on the project.

How did you come to work with Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd?

We found Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd through an online search. We shortlisted around five companies, and Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd was the only company that had already worked on telemedicine solutions for mental health practices very similar to what our client already had for their psychiatric practice and wanted a medical billing system for it. Another decision-making point was their professional team, who were highly communicative, prepared documentation within a few meetings, and presented the complete scope of work and estimates. Another decision-making point was their fair pricing that matched our budget.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we've spent around $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project started in July 2023. The project is completed for the initial scope, but we're in an annual maintenance contract for ongoing enhancements and fixing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We've seen a massive change for the better, which implies that the application is working as a great support system and has reduced the chances of errors and helped in better productivity.

Claim rate came out to be 96% post-AI implementation, which was 82% before AI, showing 17.7% growth. Claim denial has also reduced to 6%, which is a big achievement.

Staff productivity has increased to 64.28%. Initially, 70 claims used to be filed in a day, and now it has surged to 115 claims per day. Reimbursement days have also reduced to one week, showing 38.09% faster reimbursement.

Earlier, the billing error rate was 9%. Now, it has reduced to 3%, indicating a 66.66% decline post-AI implementation.

Zimo Technologies Pvt Ltd has delivered the project within the proposed timeline. Regarding project management, they've managed it very well and kept us informed at every step while building the application. We've been updated weekly on the work progress, and they've been responsive to our queries.

We mostly communicate through emails and WhatsApp. For weekly meetings, we meet through Microsoft Teams.

What did you find most impressive or unique about them?

Their R&D is impressive. They do research before proposing a solution for your system. Since they've already built telemedicine systems, their prior experience and R&D have helped us decide on third-party integration and technologies for our medical billing application.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think they've done their best for what we've requested. Even their R&D has helped us improve our system's UX to make it more user-friendly for the billing team.
