To create a virtual classroom that could help deliver, at scale. an excellent in person learning experience to a wider audience.

The project team was spread out across the United States and Ukraine, and drew together engineers, software developers, film and video creatives, and client side producers and stakeholders.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

YUQIO's final product was very well received by the client, and helped to prove out a concept that we had been hoping to be able to deliver for some time.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project management was shared between the content side and the software side manangement. YUQIO handled all of the software development and rollout.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were able to be responsive, flexible, and creative on a really challenging project, and deliver on time and on budget.

Are there any areas for improvement?

It is always challenging to manage projects across time-zones. While everyone worked long hours, it was a challenge to stay in sync. YUQIO worked very late at night to help adjust for this.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am a Project Manager in an IT company. Our core product is a huge knowledge base for the commodity market by collecting data about news and events that influence the market from various sources (both open sources and paid sources).

We accumulate this data, clean and translate it, and then use AI to compose actionable datasets. At the same time, we also have a number of web-projects, which are all connected with the financial sphere.

For what projects/services did your company hire YUQIO Games and Apps?

Our company was building an app, which technically is a trading simulator with fake money. At the same time, the idea was to make this serious concept of investing in the stock market easy to understand and attractive to the very hard-to-get audience: high-school students and university students in the USA.

The decision was to create a game-looking app with a lot of game mechanics, but with a trading terminal sandbox in it.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create an MVP for iOS and Android using a cross-platform framework. The core requirement to the framework was to be flexible for further development, based on the user feedback: adding new types of achievements in the game, adding more financial instruments to trade, etc.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We had a very unusual situation at the start: we had the UI/UX team and a product owner of our own, and moreover, the backend team was also on our side. We were looking for a high-quality frontend team, consisting of at least 2 developers.

The requirements were: Unity framework and the ability to efficiently work with the backend team, which most likely would be remote. We have contacted a number of freelancers, and a number of IT companies, but all of them, except the Yuqio team, were either not qualified enough, or had troubles in establishing the contact.

Describe the project in detail.

Once we have selected the vendor, we had a couple of calls with the tech lead of the team. During these calls, we discussed the issues, which were important to us: the qualification of the developers, their ability to work in a remote team, the UI/UI concept and parts of game mechanics, which logic seemed not that obvious to implement.

After that, the tech lead picked a number of candidates, which met our requirements, and we had calls with them too. During these calls, we selected 2 developers, which enriched our product team.

What was the team composition?

During the whole project, we had a very organized and considerate project manager, who helped to organize the work process. We planned 1-week sprints and tracked tasks in Jira, and had daily calls to discuss the current issues, problems, technical solutions and plans for the next sprint.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have completed the MVP and now are in the process of releasing the app in Google Play and Apple Store. We met the deadlines for the project, which were rather tight, and even had managed to make a number of drastic changes to the UI/UX along the way, which were reflected in the interface of the game, ex.: user tutorial at the beginning of the game, and registration flow.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The communication was the part we worried about most of all when we understood, that the whole work on the project would be done by a remote team, which is especially crucial because the backend and the frontend teams were separated.

However, our fears did not come true: the project manager on the Yuqio side was always present on the daily sync-ups and helped us to find understanding while discussing difficult issues.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were really impressed by the ability to think out of the box and find most non-typical solutions even to the hardest technical problems. Also, the frontend team was always eager to help the backend in building an effective system of server-client communication.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Some technical solutions may have been more flexible, but this was determined by the fact that the deadlines were really tight.

I’m a technical artist and programmer at Peppy Pals. We’re an educational children’s app and book creator. We make games, books, movies, and other products that focus on emotional quotient (EQ), which is an individual's level of emotional intelligence.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted the app to be able to automatically renew subscriptions. We wanted an easy-to-use set of functions to check receipts, expiration dates, etc.

We found them on LinkedIn.

They developed a script that managed everything we needed for our iOS IAP. Their team made sure that the functions included checking receipts, managing expiration dates, and other in-app tasks.

What was the team composition?

We had one main point of contact and one developer.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

They delivered the project with no delays. Everything they produced matched what we envisioned.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Because they were working during our vacation, there were some communication delays on our end.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They delivered quickly, and the price was fair for the value we received. They also showed us great patience when we had payment issues.

YUQIO is designing and developing our entire game based on an initial prototype we developed in-house. The team is in charge of programming the code, creating art, and sound engineering.

We work with a team of programmers from YUQIO. They assigned us a program manager to help us stay on track.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

YUQIO is doing an incredible job of building a solution that promises to be amazing. We are hoping to raise investment capital based on the deliverable that’s currently in progress. Our video game is still in the development stage.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

YUQIO arranged the project management. We collaborated via Skype to communicate about deadlines and deliverables. Despite being completely remote, the team was responsive, professional and timely in delivering all their work. It has been a pleasure working with YUQIO.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Clients have direct access to the managers who listen very carefully to their needs. They take care to ensure that all the requirements are met and delivered upon.  YUQIO has an outstanding level of professionalism. I admire the team's ability to go above and beyond. We hope to continue working with them as we move forward with other projects.

There is very little that they can improve. I am delighted with the quality and professionalism of their work.

Once we selected this vendor, we had a series of discovery meetings to discuss our work plan. Within the first two weeks, we received mockups and three initial designs for the app's main page.

After a few iterations and discussions with our marketing team, we finalized the design and provided feedback on how we wanted the rest of the site to look.

They provided a project manager, two frontend developers, and two backend developers, along with quality assurance (QA) personnel.

We're satisfied with the result. 

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our project manager was easy to communicate with updated us frequently. We connected over the phone at least once a week and used Slack for all other communication. 

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed by their experience, reaction times, and customer service.
