We had some issues with our CEO not liking the UI/UX design. I think both X2 Mobile and us could have collaborated sooner with key stakeholders on the design approval. Instead, we were left scrambling toward the end of the project.

The team developed the app from scratch; we just provided a list of features and some frameworks. They were able to grasp our focus and even suggest the priority of certain features. The backend was also handled by the X2 Mobile Team, which took charge of administering our considerably large database. We released three versions together, starting with the MVP, which had limited functions and lacked Points of Interest (POIs).

During the V2 phase, they uploaded our database and tested the search functionality and data display features. With the latest update, the team implemented improvements and introduced new features, such as user accounts, to enhance the app's functionality.

Our software solution relies heavily on web real time communication for voice, SMS/MMS, WhatsApp, chat, email, and video. For this reason, we needed native mobile apps to reach local device capability for telephony to receive and make phone calls, as well as ease communication via all the other CRM contact paths. The CRM features are complex and mission critical with real-time workflow events built in, and thus notification banners were a must-have!

Additionally, the activity calendars with built-in workflow automation required increased usability to encompass the complexity behind this feature. Overall, we needed great focus on the user experience to match our web application, even though the screen space on a mobile device is much more limited, compared to the desktop.

The city’s objective is to increase the use of the public bus system connecting such areas and the city for daily commutes. A key issue identified by the city is the lack of reliability and predictability of the current system connecting the commuting zones and city. Despite a fixed timetable, buses often have changes to their schedule due to traffic or other incidents.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

The technical solution takes a simple and innovative approach to offer real-time data to the Cluj Public Transport users. The bus position is accessed via an API that provides the GPS locations of the bus every five seconds. Based on the bus position the application predicts the amount of time it will require to get to the next station and shows its exact location on the map.

The user has real-time information on arrival time and expected delays per station The solution provides a great user experience for both iOS and Android users via native applications. Transport Cluj is very minimalistic with the objective of being a 3sec app. The user should enter and find the information needed in less than 3 sec.

• On a scale from 1-5, what is the overall level of satisfaction? - 98% of the people rated it as 5/5, 2% rated it as 4/5 • 100% of the people interviewed stated they would use the app when published.
• What is the most valuable feature? More than 90% of people mentioned the real-time tracking of the bus on the route.
• The Metropolitan area would benefit most from the app due to the lower frequency of the buses. Losing a bus means so much more there

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All the proposed features were implemented and released into production successfully without major issues.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager that we were assigned was easy to communicate with and provided us frequent updates. And the Android Developer was very skilled and independent. We used Slack for all communication. Overall, I was impressed by their involvement and proactivity in having a successful product release.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was very pleased by the knowledge that X2 Mobile had about mobile app development, user experience and optimization. We appreciated that they were very proactive and open to going the extra mile to make sure things are done as expected.

We have worked with other agencies, but this was a particularly collaborative and positive experience. I will certainly engage with X2 Mobile again for any mobile app needs that we have in the future.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Nothing worth mentioning.
