I’m a business systems specialist at Morris Interactive, a consulting and learning services firm that provides leadership training, business advisory, and career development programs. We specialize in Indigenous engagement and support clients across various industries in Canada and the US.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with WTF Information Technology?

We needed help modernizing and streamlining our digital event operations. A major goal was to develop a new event management and ticketing platform that would allow us to move away from Eventbrite and have a system better integrated with our website and internal processes. At the same time, we needed support for a complete website revamp and migration from Webflow to WordPress. The overall objective was to create a more integrated, flexible, and manageable digital ecosystem for our team while improving the customer registration experience and our internal event management workflows.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

WTF Information Technology handled a broad scope of work focused on modernizing our website and event management ecosystem. Their work included:

• Migrating our entire website from Webflow to WordPress while ensuring our existing content and functionality transitioned properly.
• Redesigning and revamping the website to improve its overall usability, appearance, responsiveness, and ease of maintenance for our internal team.
• Building a new event registration and ticketing system using WooCommerce and FooEvents, allowing us to transition away from Eventbrite and manage registrations directly through our website.
• Developing customized registration and checkout workflows to better reflect our business processes, including attendee information, multiple payment methods, order statuses, ticket management, and event capacity.
• Integrating the platform with other systems we use, including Stripe for online payments, QuickBooks for financial processes, and Pipedrive for our sales and customer workflows.
• Developing custom functionality and backend improvements to make event administration, attendee management, reporting, and reconciliation much easier for our team.
• Supporting the migration of our existing events and registrations from Eventbrite into the new platform.
• Providing ongoing development, troubleshooting, testing, and improvements as we transitioned to the new system.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

One of the clearest measurable outcomes has been an increase in sales and online registrations since launching the new website and event management system. By bringing the registration and purchasing experience directly onto our website and making the process more streamlined for customers, we’ve seen a stronger conversion into actual registrations. We’ve seen a 40% increase in our credit card transactions.We’ve also gained much better visibility into our event performance, customer registrations, payments, and attendee information. The new system has reduced our reliance on separate platforms and given our team significantly more control over the entire customer journey, from discovering an event on our website through registration, payment, and ticketing.Every department is saving an enormous amount of time in their day-to-day work. For example, our business development team can now focus much more of their time on selling and building client relationships. Previously, they often had to manually handle backend registrations for clients and complete administrative steps that are now automated or managed through the platform.Our operations team can launch and manage events much more efficiently without having to coordinate across multiple disconnected systems. Our marketing team also benefits because the customer journey and campaign activity are much more traceable, making it easier to understand where registrations are coming from and how our marketing efforts are performing. Overall, the system has removed a considerable amount of repetitive administrative work across departments and allowed our team to spend more time on higher-value work.

How did WTF Information Technology perform from a project management standpoint?

WTF Information Technology’s project management was very strong. Their communication was consistent and transparent throughout the project, and they were always responsive when we had questions, feedback, or changes. They worked collaboratively with our team and were flexible as our requirements evolved, especially as we moved deeper into the event management system and identified additional functionality we needed.They delivered the major milestones within the expected timelines and did a great job of keeping the project moving while managing a fairly complex website migration, redesign, and custom event management implementation.

What did you find most impressive about them?

What impressed us most was how well they took the time to understand our organization and how we actually work, rather than simply delivering a standard solution. They were very collaborative, approachable, and responsive throughout the entire project.As our needs evolved, they were willing to listen, adapt, and build solutions around our real workflows. We also developed a great rapport with their team, which made it feel like they were an extension of our own team rather than just an external technology provider. Their combination of technical expertise, flexibility, and genuine commitment to finding solutions that worked for us really stood out.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There’s nothing significant that stands out as something they could have done differently. With a project of this size and complexity, there were naturally adjustments and refinements along the way, particularly as we began using the new system and discovered additional needs. What mattered to us was that their team was always receptive to feedback and quick to work with us on solutions.If anything, having even more structured documentation and knowledge transfer throughout the development process could make future projects even smoother, especially for internal teams that will maintain the system long term. Overall, though, we’ve been very happy with both the process and the outcome.
