We hired Value Productions to make an explainer video for one of our services.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a professional animated explainer video that clearly described the service we were offering. The video would drive awareness about the service and inform customers about how it works.

How did you select Value Productions?

My team looked for five video production groups within our budget and whose work we thought was a good fit for this video. From there, we conducted interviews with each producer. We ultimately selected Value Productions due to their professionalism in the interview and their previous work.

Value Productions really took care of us throughout the project. They handled the voice acting, background music, and animation. They also offered to take care of the scripting if we needed help with a script. They just needed a quick overview of our company, a description of what we do, and a conceptual storyboard and went right to work. They gave us updated storyboards as the project progressed and eventually sent us the full video to review and revise once we were past storyboards.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

They had a different team member take care of each individual process. Each member gave us revisions and was open to feedback the entire way through the process.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Everyone on the team is extremely satisfied with the video. We feel that it accurately describes and demonstrates the product while keeping true to MaxQ's branding and identity. We can't wait to publish it to our page!

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

They were very helpful and fast to respond with any revisions that we made, despite being on a mismatched time zone with us. Each member introduced themselves while we were moving through the process and each member kept up the responses and work.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was impressed with how they took our input and ideas, but they added their own creativity and flair to the video to elevate it beyond what we were expecting.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I can't think of anything that should have been done differently. We are on two different sides of the globe and everything went smoothly given the time difference.

As we are a new business we needed some different videos to showcase our business and our different services.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted four videos in total. - A hero video for our business which showcased all of our services - 3 x videos which each showcased one of our three core services The videos all needed to reflect our brand identity and create interest and excitment around our new concept.

We created a project for the job which we then went out to tender with. We had a selection of people apply for the job which we then narrowed down to our top selections. Peter provided me with a detailed timeline and budget and also had a phone call with me which is what made me choose his and Value Productions over the other shortlisted agencies.

The video production team had to pull together the four videos using a mix of footage we had taken as well as stock imagery and stock video footage they sourced on our behalf. We wrote the script and then Value Productions organised the voice over artist.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

Peter was the account manager and he did all of the client-focused work, liaising with me on behalf of his team. As this was our first video for the business we had quite a few rounds of amends with Value Productions facilitated.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are only just about to launch the final videos so i don't have any measurements. However, the overall feedback from other stakeholders is that the videos are extremely professional and get across our business and services very well.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was good, they used a mix of Google Drive, FEX, email; and whatsapp to manage the process. They created a timeline and a budget at the start of the project which was clear and kept us all accountable for deliverables.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Considering they are based in the Ukraine and I was in Australia i was worried about the language barrier. However, Peter was very good at communicating and made the process a smooth one.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As with any project, there are always improvements that can be made however overall i would say the company was great to work with. I am happy with the process and given the time difference they worked very well with me.

Value provided us with drafts of the video as each phase of content finished. We had an incredibly tight timeline that Value met with no problem.

Value Productions created a spectacular 3D graphic video to introduce our product technology. The video is nearly 3 minutes, including excellent 3D graphics, motion and on-screen text. The quality of their 3D graphics is simply superb. Their work ethic and commitment is exceptional. I would give them my highest recommendation.

We have just launched our video so it is too soon for quantitative metrics but the early response from our Team has been extremely positive.

They need to work a bit harder to meet timelines and to hit deadlines, and to respond to email requests more quickly.

I'm a Marketing Design Strategist on the in-house Marketing team. As one part of my role I focus on the development of custom content to engage both employees and external audience of clients and project partners.

For what projects/services did your company hire Value Productions, and what were your goals?

Our team hired ValueProductions to create a custom 3D animated video. The concept was to animate a map from an aerial view that showed geographic layers to represent our quantity and density of projects built across Texas. The design intent was unique and highly custom. This video was produced for a companywide annual event and keynote presentation.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We solicited proposals via Upwork to find freelancers that were both capable of this animation style and quality, but could also produce the project on a quick timeline, having less than 2 weeks to execute the production work. The VP team had portfolio examples that gave us confidence that they could achieve the quality we were looking for. In addition their team made a point to communicate and clarify any questions before finalizing the proposed pricing and starting the project.

Describe the video(s) and the process in detail, including the project steps and all stages of production.

When we looked for a partner to help us produce this video we had already created a story board with ~20 frames for reference. In addition we provided links to inspiration from other similar videos, image styles, animations and details. The VP took all this information and organized a Miro board that allowed us to easily collaborate and communicate on all the different aspects of the project. Additionally they set up a group Signal chat that served as a running conversation for any questions or updates to the work.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

The team was very collaborative and received feedback well. Once the video was in a draft rendering, we transitioned from the Miro board to using frame.io links to provide more targeted feedback that associated with the timeline. Feedback was concentrated at certain stages within the project and in the event something wasn't clear through the chat or frame.io feedback, the VP team setup a video call to talk through it to make sure everyone understood.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Completion of the animation in the short time frame in and of itself was a big success. They made the project possible when we wouldn't have been able to otherwise complete it with our in-house team. The video was used to start a companywide presentation. It recieved compliments from both the leadership team of presenters as well as many employees.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

I would describe thier management style as collaborative. Within that there were 1-2 key communicators on thier team that would relay more detailed information to those executing the animation and rendering work.  As the client we made efforts to include lots of inspiration and reference imagery, notes and storyboard to illustrate what we were hoping for.

Within the process they took steps to set expectations of what was and was not possible given the parameters for the project as well as what was expected from us as the client. We were clear from the beginning of the project that we would need to provide quickly and in batched groups so that thier team could successfully address it and made the needed revisions. The combination of a group chat, miro board with visuals and frame.io links for video drafts captured different types of information and was a successful combination for the group. 

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

To sum it up in 3 works I'd say speed, quality and nimbleness. 

They produced a great-looking animation video with a challenging timeline. When we requested changes during the process they were able to adjust and address them without the overally project going off track. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

An "even better if" would be to have established pricing at the proposal stage in a way that already included fees for the payment platform. As these kinds of outsource projects aren't frequent for us, I didn't anticipate the peripheral costs and had to go back after approving the cost for project to approve additional funds. I respect that this is also an inherent challenge of working across international borders and the fees were tied to some of our decisions in how we preferred to make payments.
