Our aim was to integrate a digital assistant onto our website to facilitate direct interaction with our customers. The primary motive was to expedite and streamline customer communication during the support and sales stages. The team had a well-crafted project scoping documentation and insightful consulting sessions. The team designed, tested, debugged, and developed an NLP model for the chatbot.

They also optimized this model based on our data, which led to a significant reduction in responses quality

Unleashing A Ihas brought us over $300k in annual revenue with their improvements and saved us $25k on server expenses. They also built a new pipeline for the model that allowed us to reduce the time to production and iterate faster with experiments.

The Unleashing AI team was working in weekly sprints with two syncs per sprint. We started the project in late August and the team created a detailed project plan in the first week of our collaboration. The team always kept us informed about the progress, we also liked that Unleashing AI treated this project as if it was their own and proposed multiple improvements that we didn’t mention in our requirements, including saving us around $25k on server expenses.

Our company also was impressed with their experience in a broad number of areas, including model optimization, deep learning, and software development best practices. We also were impressed by the world-class team with previous experience at Amazon, Columbia University, and Ycombinator startups, it really simplified the approval process with our procurement team.

Honestly, I can’t think of anything, as they over delivered compared to what we initially we expecting from our collaboration

We understood that as a start-up company facing rapid growth, the quality of the existing pipelines was not the best. So, we wanted to increase accuracy of the models, optimize the training process, and improve technical and product metrics.

• Architectural overview: Unleashing AI started by conducting an overview of the existing system to understand its architecture and identify areas for an improvement. Improvement plan: Based on the architectural overview, the team developed a plan to optimize and improve the system in specific ways, including identifying key metrics to achieve.
• Training pipeline optimization: The team set up and optimized the training pipeline for dialogue models, including implementing strategies to improve accuracy and performance.
• API setup: The team set up an API using FastAPI to facilitate communication between the different components of the system.
• Reranking system training pipeline optimization: In addition to the dialogue models, the team also set up and optimized the training pipeline for the reranking system.
• Microservices setup: To make the system more modular and scalable, the team divided it into microservices and set up a system to manage and deploy these services.
• Docker container setup: To make it easier to deploy and manage the system, the team also set up Docker containers for the microservices.
• Croudsourcing validation tools setup: The team set up external tools to facilitate croudsourcing validation of the system.
• AB testing consultation: The team provided consultation on how to set up AB tests to measure the impact of changes to the system

The technologies used in this project included FastAPI for API setup, Docker for containerization, and various tools and techniques for optimizing and improving the performance of the machine learning models and overall system(pytorch, hugging-face, transformers, cuda).

The project was successful in delivering the desired outcomes(we're still in the process of final integration, but the result could be seen). Specifically, the team at Unleashing AI was able to improve the performance of the text generation model, resulting in a better quality of text according to user feedback and these text contain fewer mistakes than before. The training pipelines were also made more reproducible, likely making the process more efficient and reliable. So, the team was able to improve the product metrics in terms of the quality of text generation, which was likely a key goal of the project.

The project management style of Unleashing AI was working in weekly sprints with regular progress updates(2 mid-sprint syncs). The team used Slack and Huddle as communication tools, and reported progress via a task board in Notion. Overall, Unleashing AI adopted a proactive and agile approach to project management, with a focus on continuous improvement and regular communication to ensure that the project remained on track and met the needs of the client.
