• We engaged with Turing Quantitative to integrate Generative AI into The Sola Company’s e-commerce operations, with the goal of enhancing customer interactions and improving operational efficiency. As a producer of low-sugar, low-carb snacks, we aimed to develop a system that could provide personalized snack recommendations based on customer preferences, while also optimizing inventory management to reduce waste and ensure consistent product availability in our online store.

Turing Quantitative AI worked on integrating large language models (LLMs) into a chat-based system that dynamically retrieves catalog data to overcome the token limitations of generative models. Their scope included fine-tuning existing models to meet specific e-commerce requirements, implementing RAG methodologies for enhanced performance, and designing API integrations for seamless deployment. They collaborated extensively to ensure the deliverables aligned with business needs while proactively suggesting next steps for scaling the solution beyond the proof of concept.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project delivered a fully functional proof of concept ahead of schedule, showcasing a
working Natural Language Interface that exceeded expectations. The system demonstrated
high accuracy in retrieving and generating contextually relevant product recommendations.
Clients reported improved user engagement and a streamlined shopping experience,
validating the technical and business impact of the solution.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Turing Quantitative could have done differently?

One area for potential improvement was the initial communication of technical concepts,
which some of our team found complex. However, Turing Quantitative very quickly adapted by building diagrams, and providing simplified explanations and additional training sessions
that ensured everyone felt confident in understanding how the system works under the hood.
