Pearse Lyons Distillery opened its doors to the public in September 2017 and has welcomed over 60,000 guests. The distillery offers general tours to the public, seven days a week. The attraction also offers several high-end experiences, ranging from private tastings to blending and food pairing classes.
In 2018, the management team noted that guests were seeking more unique and limited-edition tastings and experiences. They developed a three-tier tour and tasting experience, which offered guests the choice to sample more Pearse Irish Whiskey at a premium price point.
Having rolled out the three-tiered system in January 2019, sales of the premium tour and tasting experience accounted for an increase in ticket revenue of 25 percent. Of these visitors who purchased the premium ticketing offering; they were more engaged with the storyteller, fascinated in the whiskey tasting process and one in five purchased a bottle of limited edition Pearse Whiskey in the gift shop.
The VIP experiences, such as The Art of Distilling and Blending, Whiskey Food Pairing and Cocktail Classes, were developed to cater for a luxury and corporate market. These classes and courses run two to three times a month. The Irish Whiskey Association (IWA), highlighted that 1 million people visited Irish whiskey distilleries in 2019. A 10.5 percent increase compared to 2018.
Pearse Lyons Distillery currently owns 2.2% of the current market share. Of those visiting in 2019, 34 percent travelled from North America and Canada, 12 percent from Great Britain, 13 percent from Ireland, 10 percent from Germany and 8 percent from France. There are 20 brand homes in operation across the island of Ireland, with more planned to open.
Based on the figures released by the IWA it is evident that Pearse Lyons Distillery can capture new audiences and differentiate itself within the current whiskey tourism offering. Within the current whiskey offering in Ireland, most whiskey experiences sit between mainstream and premium, offering guided or self-guided tours, followed by tastings.
It is evident that the mainstream and premium offerings are overcrowded, however there is room within the premium and ultralux market. Pearse Lyons Distillery wishes to stand out from the crowded Dublin distillery market. By identifying a clear and concise premium brand position, which ties the whiskey and brand home together; it will help customers connect with the brand.
The brand has a heritage connection through its founder, the late Pearse Lyons and his family legacy. More emphasis needs to be placed on his story and the connection to Dublin’s Liberties and his involvement in the Irish Whiskey world. Digital marketing can help Pearse Lyons Distillery by increasing brand recognition.
Digital channels will help tell the story of Pearse Lyons and the heritage behind the brand. It will allow us to specifically target the culturally curious markets, both domestic and international, who are interested in unique and premium experiences.

Tribe put forward 5 branding ideas based on the workshop we did with them, and we successfully picked one. They also developed the website, content, and SEO strategy for the website and delivered these on time and on budget.

I think a document with guidelines for image and file sizes would have been beneficial for my internal team when uploading assets to the CMS. Also, more alignment with Tribe's web designers could have made some steps easier so that they could understand what we had in mind for some improvements/changes.
