Gerard Byrne is a nationally recognised authority on grants writing and accountability. He has had extensive experience working with community groups, charities and business organisiations. 
 

Gerard is the author of Grants in Australia: Management and accountability made easy for not-for-profit organisations, and he has delivered workshops and training to over 1,000 organisations in Australia and overseas for business, government and not for profit audiences. 

Gerard graduated from James Cook University with a Bachelor of Commerce, and he went on to complete post graduate studies at RMIT, Griffith University, and the University of Queensland, Gerard is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management, and he has previously served on the National Not for Profit Centre of Excellence, Canberra. Gerard has held senior management positions in organisations as diverse Australian Red Cross, Emergency Management Queensland, James Cook University, Sydney College of Advanced Education, Queensland Transport, Uniting Care Community and the Queensland Department of Primary Industries and Fisheries. 

Gerard is in demand as a Board and Committee member and he has served as Chair, Lifelong Learning North Queensland, Chair, Far North Queensland Institute of TAFE, Chair, North Queensland Tourism Awards, Member, Greening Australia Advisory Committee, Member, Wet Tropics Natural Resource Management Board, and Committee Member, V8 Supercars, Townsville. 

 Gerard has also spoken at conferences in Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and the United States.
