I’m the head of product for a therapeutic development startup.

What challenge were you trying to address with Tighten?

We needed help with the development of our web application and MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Tighten handles the engineering aspect of our product development, focusing on front- and backend development, architecture, and design.

They initially developed two products for us: one web app that addresses immediate needs concerning COVID-19, and an MVP, mobile app-based product that dealt with prescription and digital therapeutics.

Tighten is currently working on another project that's also in line with product development.

What is the team composition?

We worked with four developers, an architect, and a project manager for the largest phase of the project. At present, one developer from Tighten continues to support our development efforts.

How did you come to work with Tighten?

They were strongly recommended to us by a designer that we once worked with Upon interviewing Tighten, we saw them as a talented team with great pricing, so we were happy to have them work virtually for us as an offshore team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in May 2020, and it’s ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Tighten has a flexible working model that allows us to buy capacity. They work according to our priorities and within our timeframes, making iterations and changes easier to implement. I also find their Agile framework extremely beneficial and efficient. More importantly, Tighen's team members are experts in code production, and their solutions always lead to few to no bugs. Overall, I can say that their team's approach has a nice balance of quality and speed.

How did Tighten perform from a project management standpoint?

Tighten has an amazing project manager — she is organized and communicative, managing all our documentations well and keeping us updated on the progress of the project or any issues that arise.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Tighten's main edge is their cost-quality equation. They're always exceptionally flexible while producing quality products at a good speed.

Are there any areas they could improve?

In the past few months, there've been some errors that impacted the project and halted our production, which could've also been avoided if we've hired more developers instead of one.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

For best quality, keep at least two developers on the team so they can peer review. Tighten's primary focus is meeting your requirements and building your product. While they strive to accommodate your timeline, they don’t make promises around them. Be wary of the timeline and product changes you wish to be implemented, and understand their potential outcomes before finalizing decisions.
