A gaming company hired Techno Mantra to develop a custom website based on Figma designs. The goal was to implement complex UI/UX animations and frontend interactions and integrate a Directus backend database.
Techno Mantra failed to meet a single milestone and wasted over 40 days of the client's time. They delivered a broken, unintegrated ZIP file that was entirely unusable. The team lacked project management skills and was unprofessional, hostile, and unresponsive. They canceled the project.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and position.
I am the Founder of a gaming company
Describe what your company does in a single sentence.
We are an independent game development and design studio focused on building high-quality mobile and 3D gaming experiences.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What specific goals or objectives did you hire Techno Mantra to accomplish?
- Develop a custom 15-page website for our game studio that perfectly matched our provided Figma designs.
- Implement complex UI/UX animations and front-end interactions as outlined in our technical specifications.
- Integrate a functional backend database (Directus) and deliver a fully operational, production-ready codebase.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.
We engaged Techno Mantra for a fixed-price contract to develop a custom 15-page website for our game development studio. The total project value was agreed upon at ₹44,999, and we provided a ₹10,000 upfront advance to initiate the work.
The expected scope of work and key deliverables included:
- Front-End Development: Translating our detailed Figma designs into a pixel-perfect, responsive website.
- UI/UX Implementation: Developing complex scroll animations, interactive elements, and modern web transitions.
- Backend Integration: Setting up and integrating a Directus backend database for dynamic content management.
- Final Delivery: Providing a fully functional, production-ready codebase deployed to our hosting environment.
Ultimately, the vendor failed to execute this scope. After 40 days, they unilaterally canceled the project, delivering only an unintegrated, broken ZIP file of test code, completely failing to meet a single approved milestone.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
There were absolutely zero positive measurable outcomes. Instead, the project resulted in a severe net-negative impact on our business:
- 0 Milestones Achieved: Out of the 15 agreed-upon pages, zero were successfully coded, integrated, or approved.
- 100% Time Wasted: 40+ days of our startup's runway were completely wasted on a vendor who ultimately lacked the technical skills to deliver.
- 100% Financial Loss on Advance: They took our ₹10,000 upfront advance, canceled the project unilaterally, and refused to issue a refund despite delivering no usable code.
- Negative Deliverables: The final output was a broken, unintegrated ZIP file that an independent technical audit confirmed was entirely unusable and generated by inexperienced developers.
The only measurable outcome was that we were forced to hire a competent agency, who had to build our actual, production-ready website completely from scratch in just 10 days.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
Their project management was nonexistent, unprofessional, and ultimately hostile.
- Delivery & Deadlines: They completely failed to deliver items on time. Despite having clear Figma designs and technical specifications, they spent over 40 days missing every single agreed-upon milestone, eventually delivering absolutely nothing of value.
- Responsiveness & Communication: Instead of managing the project, they forced me a non-technical founder, to constantly guide their developers on basic coding tasks. Communication consisted mostly of the owner making excuses about his internal developer costs and making false promises about progress.
- Client Treatment: When I finally held them accountable for the missed deadlines and lack of progress, they did not respond professionally. Instead, the owner gaslit us, blamed the failure on us being "impatient," and unilaterally canceled the project over WhatsApp. He then explicitly refused to return our advance payment.
There was zero accountability, zero transparency, and zero actual management.
What was your primary form of communication with Techno Mantra?
- Virtual Meeting
- Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
The only "impressive" thing about Techno Mantra was the sheer audacity of their business practices. It is entirely unique to find an agency that will take an upfront advance, fail to deliver any usable code for 40 days, rely on the client to teach them basic programming concepts, and then abruptly cancel the project while blaming the client for being "impatient." Furthermore, it is genuinely astonishing that they can explicitly cancel a project and refuse a refund in writing, yet still use an automated billing system to send overdue invoice demands for the remaining ₹34,999 balance. Their complete lack of accountability and brazen approach to keeping client funds without delivering a service is the only thing that sets them apart from others.
Are there any areas for improvement or something Techno Mantra could have done differently?
Techno Mantra requires a complete overhaul of both their technical capabilities and their business ethics.
- Honesty in Capabilities: They must stop taking on custom development projects if their team lacks the fundamental coding skills to execute them. Relying on the client to troubleshoot and guide their developers' code is completely unacceptable for a paid agency.
- Professional Accountability: When they fail to meet milestones or struggle technically, they need to communicate honestly. Blaming the client for being "impatient" when the agency is 40 days late and failing to deliver is a massive red flag.
- Ethical Financial Practices: If they unilaterally cancel a project because they cannot do the work, they must issue a refund for the advance payment.
- System Management: They urgently need to audit their billing and CRM systems. Harassing a client with automated overdue invoices for the remaining balance of a project that the agency explicitly canceled is predatory and highly unprofessional.
