Please describe your company and your position there.

I work as a self-employed and help the government with IT Projects since 2017.

For what projects/services did your company hire SQUAD UA?

Kharkiv regional council has an old web app from the middle 00s as document workflow and had not updated since. Deputies complained about a lack of modern features, bad UI, and UX, so we came to the solution that they need the Android app. We haven’t in-house Software Engineering Team, so we needed to outsource modern Android app development.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a modern Android app that increases the deputy’s productivity and gets rid of all paperwork. Also, we wanted its to be easy to download and install and scale on as many deputies as we need.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

A few people I know recommended me SQUAD UA. SQUAD UA has scheduled a call with us, we ask them about their rate, similar projects, and free Android Developers. We were all set, so we called when we had the Terms of Reference.

Describe the project in detail.

We had a series of discovery meetings to discuss our goals and objectives and to create better design. Also, we have demo calls every month. SQUAD UA created our app with the following features:

1. User authentication
2. Watch History
3. List of all documents in hierarchical order
4. Support of legacy document flow portal

What was the team composition?

SQUAD UA team’ on this project consists of Project Manager and 2 Android Developers, as well as their QA works with them.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The work was carried out qualitatively and on time, in spite of constant changes in the Terms of Reference and forced delivery of projects by customers. After project delivery, qualified support was provided. Moreover, deputies can finally get rid of tons of papers and can use the EKD app.

Also, they can faster find needed documents in the hierarchical file system faster than using the old document workflow portal. Moreover, we continue to hear positive feedback on usability and the smoothness of work.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided us frequent updates of features status. We connected over the phone at least once a week and used Skype for demo and features discussion. Overall, I was impressed by the timeliness of the team.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We were amazed by the knowledge of agency about mobile app development, UI/UX, and optimization. We learned much more than we thought possible, and we appreciated that they were patient and thoughtful while we came up to speed. Definitely, I can recommend them to my friends!

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was perfect, but sometimes we want to get some features faster. But quality matters more and we make changes in Terms of Reference, so it is okay.
