Compared to my previous partners, I’m very satisfied with Social Media 55’s work on multiple levels. I can reach Joseph—who is the face of the company—directly at any time. Given that I am constantly busy with my restaurant, ease of communication was very important to me. Everything needs to be scheduled immediately beforehand, not a day in advance. It’s comforting to know that I can call Joseph and easily communicate with him. I know that I’m getting value for my money.

Other companies would hike up the prices when subcontracting artisans for photography and design, but Social Media 55 doesn’t. I can speak directly to the external resources they find for me, without markup charges.

I’ve always chosen my third parties and paid them directly, so I knew they were fair. If I don’t like a designer’s work, I can now contact them directly. Joseph follows up at the administrative level after I’ve given my instructions. He makes sure that the project is done on time and that it’s appropriate for posting online.

I have meetings with Joseph once every two weeks, either over the phone or in person. He sends the information down the ladder to everyone else. The team has always been on schedule, and they know what they’re doing.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They stand out in terms of efficiency, communication, and hands-on management. I never felt like I was being sold something. Instead, they gave me a list of services for a set price and allowed me to decide between them. They gave valuable suggestions about how to make a marketing campaign more successful, but I always had the last word.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m not a social media expert, so I can’t say for sure, but there’s a reason I’ve been working with Social Media 55 for over four years. This is surprising because, as a restaurant owner, I’m always looking for better services and prices.

There’s a ton of competition out there, and I get pitched on a weekly basis by companies that want to manage my social media. I tend to refuse them because I’m happy where I am; I can’t find anything to criticize. I see myself continuing to work with Social Media 55 in the future.

I didn't have any social media presence, so they created my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts. Usually, we meet in person and discuss the strategies that they implement for me. They also built my website and helped me develop a brand identity by designing professional logos for me.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I have over 10,000 followers, all of whom are my potential clients. Because of the recognition Social Media 55 generated for me, other websites contact me with requests to write articles about my business. The articles, in turn, bring me even more leads, but I attribute 100% of the credit for the growth of my business to Social Media 55.

How did they perform from a project management standpoint?

They're very responsive and work quickly: when I call them, someone is always available to speak with me and implement the changes that I propose within 15–20 minutes. They're proactive and always meet my deadlines, even if it's a last-minute request. We meet once a month to go over the progress, and we usually communicate via email or phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They made me a real contender in my business field. I’m impressed with how fast my social media presence has grown.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Nothing comes to mind. They did an excellent job helping me expand my business when I just started my company.

We're a luxury perfume retailer based in Beverly Hills. We've earned around $125 million in retail sales since our founding in 1994, and our products are distributed in major high-end department stores throughout the US as well as worldwide. We realized we were lacking an online presence and that our website also looked dated. We needed someone who could help us with those issues.

What was the scope of their involvement?

When they started in 2012, they initially spearheaded our social media engagement and provided our content. Since then, they've continued to help us with marketing and branding, which includes handling our inbound messages, requests, and any posts we make on Facebook. They also build out any ads we need in order to boost interest in our product or build our fan base, and they occasionally do small pay-per-click campaigns for us using Google AdWords.

In addition to that, they built the online store for our e-commerce site when we added that in 2014, and they’re essentially the backbone of our website. They interface with customer service and deal with the shipping department at our warehouse, as well as handle incoming orders on the back end and coordinate shipping of certain products. Thanks to them, we've been able to separate the retail and wholesale ends of our business, which has been crucial because we don't have the people in-house to manage that.

How did you come to work with Social Media 55?

We’ve actually worked with them since before they officially became Social Media 55, although their team has remained the same the whole time. Their president approached us directly and offered to work with us. He explained that, based on who we were, we really needed a presence on Facebook and Instagram, but this was when those platforms were still fairly new for advertising, so we were hesitant. They made an effort to justify why it was important and where we could go if we built up our online presence, so we ultimately accepted. Back then, we had no idea it was going to become something this vital. We managed to get a little bit ahead of the curve.

What is the status of this engagement?

We've been working with them since March of 2012.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The e-commerce site has yielded good results. There have been major increases in regular traffic and sales in a way that exceeded our expectations; we'd dabbled in online sales before using in-house staff and we didn't have nearly the same amount of success. With them, our sales increased so much that we had to add a whole new division to the company. On top of that, outsourcing to them, rather than building a new in-house staff, has saved us a lot of money.

How did Social Media 55 perform from a project management standpoint?

They're the most responsive company we deal with when it comes to answering the phone. They're always available and the customer service has been way above our expectations.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I like that they're a combination of entrepreneurs and experts in the field of marketing. They take time to really learn your business and your industry, and they employ tools and methods that help you turn a better profit. It's not just about the marketing or the e-commerce platform: they understand our strengths and weaknesses, and they adapt our campaigns to them. They've also done a great job maintaining the integrity of our brand, which was a big challenge for us when our company was evolving because we didn't have the time or know-how to take responsibility for the website.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

They're incredibly consistent with who they are and what they do, so trust them to do it. Their team may be small, but they’re passionate and knowledgeable in their industry, and it's their mission to deliver success to any business they work with—that's only improved over the years. We're quite satisfied with their service and the results they've fed us. I believe that improvements on their end will come through us assigning new tasks and new opportunities, so there’s no need to be afraid to push their skills.

It works and the proof is in the customers that come to the store. We get a lot of customers from outside the area who saw our products on social media and make a point to stop by on their way home or to work. Social Media 55 put us ahead of our competition in a way that has surprised us.

Since day one, Joseph’s been flexible to work within my abilities and finances. As we grow, I try to sit down with him and figure out how we can do more. To that end, he modifies his services and approach.

He physically comes to the store to take product photos. Seeing the work being done in-person puts my mind at ease. I also have high standards, but I’m comfortable with the content he puts out there.

No. I only wish I could increase the social media budget because that’s how much I believe in it.
