SmartArt South, Inc. began in the spare bedroom of Jennifer’s home in February of 1996. After an aggressive 4-month advertising campaign promoting the "SmartArt South" name, the company moved into two office suites in Pelham.
There Jennifer staffed a creative team and brought all design, layout, typesetting, illustration, and print brokering in-house and formed many client relationships. In 1999, Jennifer bought a free-standing office building in Pelham and brought in additional services.
