BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the chairman of the board and founder of Mashed Pixel. Our company is a research and development stage startup. Our headquarters are in DC, but we are based wherever the team happens to be. We have people in DC, Florida, and 1 in Jerusalem. I’m an expat in Greece and I travel around. I did all the funding myself for this project.

What challenge were you trying to address with Simple Idea LTD?
We are developing an application with hardware to remotely control infrared devices. Everything is done through outside contractors.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
I don’t know the specifics of the technology side. Simple Idea provides us with software development and testing. They actually designed the electronic drafts for the devices. They work in coordination with us for the hardware design, but mostly on the software side.
How did you come to work with Simple Idea LTD?
One of our partners and co-founders in Israel recommended them to us.
How much have you invested with Simple Idea LTD?
We’ve paid in the high 5-figure range for their services.
What is the status of this engagement?
We’ve been working together 4 years. It’s ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
They’re very reliable and highly professional in the development side and testing. Every time we had a question, they were extremely accessible to us. I don’t have anything specific that I can point to other than the deliverables that were tested by him and our own people. The product works, that’s what I can tell you. It does what it’s supposed to do. It’s supposed to control remotely infrared devices like TVs, household appliances, anything that’s controlled with infrared.
They are pretty much up to date on everything that’s happening in their area of expertise. That’s most important. Everything that we did was done in conjunction with Apple. They had to be up on changes and Apple requirements and they always are.
How did Simple Idea LTD perform from a project management standpoint?
We worked very closely because this is our only project. We’re still in contact almost daily. We worked exclusively with Zelansky himself, the CEO. They started using a lot of people on various projects. For us, it was usually 20 additional people. We communicate via phone, Skype, and face to face. The face to face is in Israel primarily. They have contact with one of our partners in New York, too.
What did you find most impressive about Simple Idea LTD?
Nothing that I can say specifically as one thing. The totality is what we’re interested in.
Are there any areas Simple Idea LTD could improve?
I’m not a technical person so I cannot speak to that.
