BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

Cryptotask is a company building a decentralised task and job market based on blockchain technology. We have a collaboration agreement with Croatian Freelance Association and are in the process of onboarding freelancers in other markets. Back in 2017 Cryptotask was the world's first DAICO and covered in leading worldwide media such as Forbes, VentureBeat etc., for that and other unique features. My position in the company is the CEO.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Shard Labs?

We acquired one of the largest online freelancing platforms in eastern Europe with more than 20000 existing users and needed to migrate and onboard the users to the new blockchain platform so we can start scaling the business side. We wanted to find a reliable partner with extensive blockchain and web2 experience so we could focus on our commercialisation strategy.

What were your goals for this project?

The project was composed of migrating the old freelancing platform to the new blockchain platform, implementing backend features, new design and frontend implementation. We needed a company that can further our development stage from MVP to the finished product.

How did you select this vendor?

After researching several recommended teams we concluded that ShardLabs has the most extensive experience in blockchain development out of all recommended teams, and furthermore they have been building solutions for projects similar to ours. Their reputation was superb and those two arguments convinced us they are the best partner for our needs.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They made a new design and implemented the new frontend, including the dark theme, implemented new backend features, and developed the migrating solution for migrating the old freelancing platform database to the new one. Regarding the frameworks they used, Vue.js was used for frontend and node.js for backend development.

What was the team composition?

The project team had three people involved; project manager/architecture advisor, backend and frontend developer. Our project required an agile development approach for fastest possible building and testing of the developed solutions since we were chasing strict deadlines.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

ShardLabs helped us by developing our product from MVP to a fully functional blockchain platform and onboarding the existing users from the old freelancing platform to the blockchain platform. That resulted in shortening our development process so we can focus on marketing and onboarding users from other freelance associations worldwide.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We communicated with Slack, GitHub, weekly calls and regular meetings in person. Their team complied with deadlines and always communicated possible delays ahead of time so there were never any issues with progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Whenever there was an issue, at every step of the project they found a solution that was right on point. That was due to the fact that the team is composed of highly driven, creative individuals with exceptional problem-solving skills.

As a client we had direct access to both project manager and the team constantly thus preventing any issues in communication. It’s clear they are committed to their clients and paying attention to the details.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Overall experience has been great and we didn’t have any serious problems. Both communication and execution were great. Looking forward to working with Shard again in the future.
