Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the president of Impact Employee Solutions.
What challenge were you trying to address with Seely, Mullins & Associates, P.C.?
We wanted a vendor who could provide annual assistance with tax preparation and financial consulting services.
What was the scope of their involvement?
They do all of our tax planning and preparation. The team also works with our 401K administrator, financial planner, and tax attorney. Eric (CPA, CVA & Principal) is my go-to person for any tax questions. He makes sure we are compliant with all state and federal regulations.
What is the team composition?
Eric is my main point of contact. He has additional staff that he works with, but I only talk to him.
How did you come to work with Seely, Mullins & Associates, P.C.?
I was working with one of the partners at a previous firm, and I followed him when he came to Seely, Mullins & Associates. Eric also did my personal taxes.
How much have you invested with them?
I’m not sure since we’ve been working together for so long.
What is the status of this engagement?
I began working with Eric in January 2002, and my relationship with him has been ongoing.
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
When I started my business, my 401K owned the majority of the company. As the business started to gain momentum and become more valuable, I wanted to get away from that setup. Eric helped me evaluate my business, get the 401K to release ownership, and change my corporation status. I don’t think that’s something I would’ve been able to do on my own. He saved me so much time and money.
How did Seely, Mullins & Associates, P.C. perform from a project management standpoint?
They perform really well. We communicate mostly via phone calls and emails, but we also meet in-person. We speak to them quarterly, unless there is a big project coming up, or it’s time to file taxes. During busier periods, there’s a lot more back and forth communication. They’re there when I need them.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Their responsiveness is impressive. If something is important, Eric will respond outside of regular business hours. The accuracy of their work is also notable.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They’ve raised their prices over the years, so sometimes I question the cost for certain projects. However, I’m really happy with the engagement.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Having a strong relationship is most important to me. Although they may not be the most affordable option, you get what you pay for. If you need good advice and want to maximize your profit as a business, they’re worth it.
