Santurce Software LLC provides custom software development and hands-on technical consulting for businesses that need experienced engineering without a full-time hire. Based in Puerto Rico, we work remotely with clients across the United States and beyond.
Founded by Jake Kalstad, Santurce Software draws on engineering experience dating to 2008 across manufacturing, advertising technology, construction, and laboratory systems. Clients work directly with the engineer responsible for architecture, implementation, and delivery.
Our services include:
• Custom web applications, backend systems, and internal tools
• API development and business system integrations
• AI integration, agentic workflows, and Model Context Protocol (MCP)
• PostgreSQL, data pipelines, reporting, and analytics
• Linux infrastructure, cloud deployment, and DevOps
• Fractional engineering leadership and architecture consulting
Our technical experience includes Rust, Go, Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, Linux, and DigitalOcean. We work within existing codebases or build new systems, choosing technology around your requirements and maintenance needs.
We built and operate FlaskTrack, a laboratory software platform developed in Rust. It combines electronic lab notebooks, sample and inventory management, versioned workflows, instrument connectivity, Python/R pipelines, reporting, and AI-assisted features. It demonstrates our ability to take a complex product from data model through deployment and ongoing operation.
Engagements are billed hourly for ongoing support or defined projects. We agree on rates, priorities, expected capacity, and any spending cap before work begins.
