BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I work for an asset management company in New York and we needed to develop a few real time dashboards for internal processes and analysis.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Sabertooth Technologies, and what were your goals?

This was largely a new work so needed someone to work things from scratch. We wanted someone with good fundamental knowledge of the technology and a big enough team to handle the scale while keeping it timely efficient. We were working on quite a few new things on python, react with extensive database handling capacity. So basically looking for someone with experience in building sockets, working on real time data solutions, understanding of basic financial terminologies and core backend experience in the reqd. technology.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We have approached multiple developers and worked with quite a few. However, it didn't turn out to be a long journey with them. So we were looking for someone where we could establish long term relations as the project require several new features and constant maintenance. Were looking for someone specifically with experience in building sockets, working on real time data solutions, understanding of basic financial terminologies and core backend experience in the reqd. technology.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Due to confidentiality, I won't be able to delve into much detail on that. But broadly, we were looking for market information and population of that on dashboards that updates in real time. The site should also give a lot flexibility to user in terms of uploading and cross analyze things on different dashboards. So required a deal of attention to details and expertise.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

A team of around 6-8 people have been on the project which includes a project manager, operational head, developers, designers and a tester.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

I have been working with them for about 5 months now and experience has been good. They have been professional with requirement elicitation, communicating deadlines, meeting objective in timely manner and flexible enough to move a bit with some changes along milestones. The deliverables met the expectations and they provide maintenance and team support constantly for some time which definitely helps.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Management has been good. There's a project manager assigned that handles the communication back and forth with the team. We do regular calls on Skype with the whole team where we discuss about the pertaining issues and approach. Formal communication goes through a third party vendor.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their transparent communication and timely deliverables are the two most impressive things.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They have largely met the expectations.
