BACKGROUND

Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the communications and development associate at Air Force Aid Society, the official charity of the US Air Force and US Space Force. We help airmen and guardians with community programs, emergency assistance, and education support. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with RSM?

We had different systems for our teams within the organization, and none of them communicated, so we wanted to have one central system to communicate with our various teams. We hired RSM to oversee the data migration project.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

RSM helped us with data migration to move our system from Blackbaud to Microsoft Dynamics 365. The goal is to centralize the system so that we access certain information without having to go through another person or reach out via email. 

The RSM team is working in phases. They’ve finished setting up the system for the marketing team, and now they’re working with other teams within our organization to get them up and running. Additionally, they’re providing consulting services regarding our new system.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with many people from RSM. We have teammates helping with the email marketing side and others with the fundraising engagements. The team is huge and has a variety of people with different titles.

How did you come to work with RSM?

Our organization has been in contact with RSM for years, and I assume we found them through a Google search.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in September 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

With RSM’s assistance, we’ve been able to carry out some campaigns within the fundraising engagement as well as email blasts, which have both been pretty successful. There are still some things they’re learning and others that we’re trying to improve within the system. Overall, we’re seeing growth with RSM from a marketing standpoint.

How did RSM perform from a project management standpoint?

At first, we had a weekly standup meeting and many training meetings with RSM. Now that we’re self-sufficient, we still communicate with them via email and Mavenlink, where we post questions and concerns. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I appreciate that RSM is always available when we need them; I can schedule a meeting, and they hop on to walk us through processes. They also provide us with materials like videos to help if we need a refresher on any aspect.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re both trying to learn what the system can and can’t do for our organization, so our engagement is an ongoing process of learning and adjusting.
