We hired RLT Square for the development of our ecommerce platform on Magento 2 Enterprise from scratch. Prior to this we did not have any ecommerce presence. So, we were looking for a partner who can provide end-to-end solution to meet our goal of developing an ecommerce platform within 6 months.

We shortlisted 3 vendors. After detailed meetings with all, RLT Square managed to outshine others by sheer amount of engagement at every stage. Although rest of 2 vendors were based in same city as ours, but the way RLT Square handled everything, distance or different city did not matter at all.

Like every project, after sign off, we had a project kickoff meeting where we decided detailed timelines and minor and major deliverables. We also decided project boundaries to avoid any scope creep. Our platform was Magento 2 Enterprise and for project management we used Trello. For hosting we used AWS.

A project manager/tech lead was our main point of contact. There were 2 other backend developers and 1 frontend developer. However, RLT Square CEO was always in touch and made sure that his team is delivering as per agreed timelines.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We, at Naheed.pk, consider this project a great success. This project started from scratch and involved various complex custom addons. All of this was required to be ready by soft go live date of 31st Dec 2018. This project was ready 15 days before this soft go live date.

We had weekly formal online meetings with the Project Manager to review overall progress. During these meetings we discussed overall project progress and roadblocks, if any. We used Trello for project management, as both our and RLT Sqaure's teams were comfortable with it.

They were approachable, responsive, knowledgeable, and brave enough to face complex tasks. The CEO made sure that we, as a client, are satisfied

Are there any areas for improvement?

When we worked with RLT Square, at that time they were providing technical/custom development solutions for Magento only. I think they should also look into other well-know platforms like Shopify and WooCommerce. Furthermore, If they can provide digital management and other ecommerce related solutions, it will really help.

RLTSquare is really good in terms of SEO. We didn’t have a Google presence at all, and we’re ranking third or fourth for searches related to shoes in Pakistan. RLTSquare set the goal, and they delivered in a short time. We’ve gained a 7% boost in sales because of the website.

How did RLTSquare - Adobe Solution Partner perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re flexible and excel in terms of project management. We faced some challenges early on, but they’ve implemented better operational structures and account management. They missed some deadlines in the beginning, but that was due to COVID and other factors. They had some challenges with their team, but they fixed them. They’re on target on the SEO side.

We’re using tools like Trello. We had daily meetings in the beginning, and weekly meetings after development started.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They deliver what they commit to. They’re focused, and they go out of their way to bring results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They need to improve their requirements gathering and understanding skills. They should onboard someone like a business developer, instead of giving us direct exposure to the developers. There has to be someone in place who focuses on what the customer needs.

They also need to improve their QA. Like all growing companies, they’ve had some challenges related to human resources, but they’ve managed to overcome them.

You need to keep a close eye during the requirements signoff stage.

As an e-commerce company, our website is critical to our business. We needed someone to enhance and update it for us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The first step in all of our projects is a needs assessment conducted by RLTSquare. Afterward, they do a design and mockup ideation to solidify those initial ideas. This process ensures a clear understanding between us regarding the requirements before they start working on the project.

The initial work RLTSquare did was related to address validation at checkout. We had some issues where clients incorrectly keyed in their addresses — it was either a mismatched city and state or a wrong zip code. People would often mistype that information, so the team installed an API that validated addresses during checkout to ensure that it was accurate. 

From there, we then launched into a relatively extensive multi-month initiative to enhance our existing website's foundational code. The team updated the website to the latest version of Magento Commerce and ensured the security features were up to date. To increase its speed and performance, they have also applied functional and technical improvements. They continue to maintain the site.

Being in the e-commerce space, we’ve had various development partners over the years. We weren't happy with the results of our previous agency — they were slow to respond, and it took them too many billable hours to complete tasks. There were also times where our prior vendor pushed code, and it would break the site — it led to downtime because they couldn’t unwind quickly enough. 

We needed a vendor who would follow best practices and adhere to high standards concerning version control. Furthermore, we wanted to improve efficiency on the development side, so we decided to look for a new partner, and we ended up choosing RLTSquare.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We initially tested the team against the delivery speed of our previous agency. Since we started working with RLTSquare, we’ve seen a 20% reduction in the amount of time it took to complete tasks, which is a pretty substantial change. We’ve also measured some improvements with the website itself — the load speed has increased by about 30% thanks to the team’s great work. It was those initial metrics of spend reduction and site improvements that resulted in us continuing our relationship.

We’ve been extremely happy with their performance and communication skills. We use a project management tool called monday.com, where we assign tasks and communicate with developers. They're highly communicative regarding the project’s status, their progress, and the estimated completion date. If they have any concerns regarding the requirements, they’re quick to let us know. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

There are always technical hurdles in development work, and it's not always going to be 100% perfect, but the team is doing well so far. Our easy interaction with them is a marked improvement from our communication with prior developers, especially concerning feedback. 

Unlike other agencies, RLTSquare understands that we aren’t always sure about what we need, so they take the necessary steps to help us get there. They conduct assessments and ideation processes until we both arrive at a clear project scope.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It would be nice if they had some resources available during our working hours. We have to talk to them first thing in the morning or late at night because of our timezone difference. However, it’s not always an issue, so it's not a big deal.

As with any agency, the client has to understand their requirements — explaining what is needed just ensures a higher chance of having a successful project.

The quality of development and communication was excellent. We don’t work with them in a usual agency manner where we sign a project, they deliver on it, and we end the work there. My KPIs with them are based on our communication, quality of work, and delivering on time. Communication has been absolutely amazing, as has the quality of work. They deliver on time as well.

We successfully acquired more than 70% growth in the first year of launch in the Pakistan region. Followed by the launch of our international stores; US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand which was a completely new market for us.

We use Trello for all our project and task requirements. For the Migration project, we used to have long detailed sessions with the project manager and development team. for support and new features, we do daily stand-up with the development team where we discuss all the new and pending tasks.

The best thing is they specialized in Magento. Everyone from the developers to the CEO is cooperative. They always involve themselves in the project.

As eCommerce is evolving they need more product managers along with a development team who owns the product and can help clients launch new features with little time.

From our perspective, the work they’ve done has made our jobs a lot easier. They streamlined the site and gave it a cleaner format, allowing us to import information more easily. This has all been helpful. We’ve heard a lot of positive feedback on how easy, user-friendly, and good the design of the new site is. It is easy for customers to find what they’re looking for, so they definitely have liked it.

We usually use Skype to communicate, which has been really good. They respond very quickly, even with the time difference.

In terms of performance, we were able to scale the business up to 60% in the first 3 months of going live with the new Magento 2 website.

We started working with RLT end of 2021 for our website’s optimization issues. They built the infrastructure of process automations as per our needs.

We also really appreciate their understanding of urgency level required for the client at any hour of the day which includes various night resolving urgent issues. They are now currently helping us scale the business and we highly recommend them for Magento based businesses in Pakistan.

A detailed AWS architecture analysis was done, Server optimizations and different extensions were provided as per our requirements. Our website is mobile responsive. Our operational process automation is enabling us quick order sanitization and delivery.

The escalation matrix had been decided before hand and the hierarchy is provided on how to escalate problems, if any. The project team takes the project very seriously, timelines are met and urgent issues are resolved on priority. Tools like Jira, Google sheets and Slack are used for communication.

The most impressive thing about them is that CEO dives into the project if there is something that needs to be prioritized.

Sometimes we feel they are overworked, but due to the nature of the business and the level of urgency required to manage an e-commerce business that comes with the tasks given.
