What challenge were you trying to address with Rebecca Drobis Photography?

Our first project with Rebecca Drobis Photography was capturing photos for PBS KIDS, a children’s broadcasting television network.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve done a lot of work with Rebecca (Founder & Commercial Storytelling Photographer). We’ve also collaborated on a new business offering that involves custom stock or providing our clients with a library of imagery that is custom-built for their brand. This way, our customers wouldn’t have to resort to generic stock images for their digital ads. 

We’ve had three custom stock shoots over the last four years. For most of our projects, I would be the one who would bring the right people to the location. Rebecca would then capture moments that best communicate the brand we’re working with. Prior to this, we would have our clients identify a list of moments that they want to capture and if that want to involve music, technology, teachers, parents, or students in the scene. Rebecca then goes on to help us define those parameters as a team.

She usually goes to the location without staging much of the scenes. She simply puts the right kinds of props on the set and directs the subjects towards the different activities that they could do. From there, she captures moments according to the ones defined by our client.

I’ve only been working with Rebecca.

How did you come to work with Rebecca Drobis Photography?

I came to know of Rebecca Drobis Photography by word of mouth. Rebecca was part of a local women-owned businesses group, and I had worked with two members from there who recommended her.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve invested between $25,000–$50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started our first project back in May 2018, and we are still working together. 

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Rebecca has helped us deliver 100% more than what our clients have asked of us. She has the ability to take photos that really make the audience feel like they’re in the moment or like they’re a fly on the wall. She makes sure to fulfill the wishlist of our clients with photographs that are professionally captured and not at all corny. 

Our clients have been able to leverage what we gave them as well, so even if it was just the marketing team that hired us, our custom stock libraries have been useful to their entire company. It’s because of this that Rebecca has become one of my favorite people to work with. Her creative contributions are well-aligned not just with the vision of our clients but also with the kind of content that we make in our company. Now, when I’m going after new business, I usually put forward the work that she and I collaborated on. 

How did Rebecca Drobis Photography perform from a project management standpoint?

At every instance, Rebecca has delivered on time and within budget. She’s so organized, which is rare in the creative industry. A lot of the people I’ve worked with will need some level of babysitting when it comes to managing their calendars and whatnot, but I’ve never had that problem with Rebecca. She’s able to wear multiple hats.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rebecca’s speed and post-production management and organizational skills are second to none. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, there isn’t anything she could do better. In fact, we need to get more business together. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Rebecca works well as a one-person band, and she has the ability to accommodate ambitious shoots, but I think companies or people who are looking to hire her for big projects should also consider providing a suitable budget and support in the form of a hired assistant.
