I run an agency that provides a variety of services using data or information to help businesses make decisions. That translates to product analytics as a headline, because it encompasses a lot of different disciplines around research. We help companies define their business objectives and translate them into a data collection strategy.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rank Rocket?

I have clients using our company in different capacities. Their needs grew and branched into doing acquisitions and supporting organic growth through better SEO practices. We would provide that from a consultancy standpoint, and execute it all the way through maintaining the campaign and staying with them. 

We can handle some of the work from a strategic end but as that led to 3–4 more clients needing a partner, we hired Rank Rocket to scale up our business.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rank Rocket provides us with extensive SEO services. Whenever I pitch to a client, I’ll pitch both pay-per-click and organic SEO management, in terms of one supporting the other. I'd tell them we’ll get a good quick shot by doing paid, but we also want to be growing and nurturing organic SEO, so we’re not reliant on paying for traffic.

Rank Rocket also does backlinking on our clients’ websites. I’m not sure about all the tactics they employ, they just do the best job to meet their objectives.

I would say the people we work with flexes between 3–5.

How did you come to work with Rank Rocket?

I happened to be nearly lifelong friends with one of the founders, so that was definitely easy to find them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested somewhere between $50,000–$200,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing partnership started in August 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

In terms of metrics, what we watch out for is the cost per acquisition or ROI. the results vary per client, but the good news is we’ve been hitting the client’s set expectations for those set metrics. Rank Rocket also monitors and optimizes the campaigns very meticulously, to keep the metrics in line with what the clients expect because ultimately, that’s what keeps us retained.

How did Rank Rocket perform from a project management standpoint?

We’re evolving our approach all the time. We’ve only been working together since August 2020, so developing systems on how to efficiently work together is definitely something I’m always trying to bring in. it’s been good, but there’s always room for improvement.

They use Basecamp to manage the project, and on my side of the business, I tend to use Asana.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Honestly, it’s their experience and knowing the founder and his background. I know that he’s always hiring people with similar levels of expertise, and it’s given us a sense of comfort and trust. I bring them on to some of the initial calls with our prospects, and being able to speak as they do has helped us gain and retain clients.

It’s an ever-evolving practice. There have been a lot of changes over the last 20 years they’ve been doing this for, and that has been invaluable. The first project I had back in August, which is still ongoing right now, was very industry-specific.

Rank Rocket has direct industry experience that's very transferable and it saved us a lot of startup time of learning.

In some industries, there’s a lot of sensitivity around what you can and can’t do, so having their experience and knowing how to navigate to avoid getting flagged by Google or Facebook has saved us a lot of time — as well as our clients' budget.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I think the project management side needs to be more clear. However, that’s really just me reeling status on a weekly or biweekly basis, in a format that is ready for the client. I get good intel from Rank Rocket, but I still have to put it into client speak.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Clarify expectations in front of the partnership and be clear on who’s doing what. This is general advice I would give anyone working with anybody.

Rank Rocket was tasked with technical SEO on my website which uses a unique Content Management Software, revamping my websites copy for the purpose of SEO, and developing alternate channels of online marketing specific to my industry.
