What I found most impressive about QA Wolf is the combination of their easy-to-use automation platform and their highly responsive, professional team. Their UI is simple and intuitive, which makes it easier for our squads to review test results and understand failures. At the same time, their staff (Brandon/Eunice) are very accommodating, collaborative, and quick to support our needs. That balance of strong software and strong customer support makes QA Wolf stand out.

There is very little I would describe as a major area of concern. One opportunity for improvement would be to continue adding more proactive reporting and insights as automation coverage grows. For example, additional visibility into coverage trends and recommended areas for future automation would make the platform even more valuable. Overall, this is more of an opportunity to strengthen an already positive partnership rather than something negative.

Holding weekly virtual meetings kept good visibility on priorities and the constant reporting on blockers, verified bug/regression test results, and the visualization on their platform of test result history as the suite grows over time is plenty of indication of success in growth and completion of coverage goals. Getting near immediate notification of failing tests helps the team triage and solve problems with rapid turnaround. The ability to have frank, face-to-face virtual updates with managers and testers alike keeps the focus as high as my organization needs it.

Project management has been very well balanced. I always see the same faces from their organization and don't feel like a random customer getting automated support. When asked for timelines they are able to give honest estimates and answers, as well as keep me honest about my team's deliverables. Dealing with testing contractors always runs into the challenge of satisfying feedback loops. With QA Wolf you always feel like you're with like minds who care about tight communication and rapid response, they've consistently risen to the challenge of a dynamically changing testing environment and self-start on flaked tests enough to not need constant micromanagement. The transparency into their testing creation and execution progress was far above and beyond my previous experience with other teams in their industry.

Their markdown editor in coverage requests is a little primitive. The ability to upload documents or more sophisticated editing tools would go a long way.

We’ve met the entire budget of tests needed within four months of our one-year contract, so, in short, the project has been a success. Going from having no automation testing to 200 tests with most workflows within the product getting coverage has been incredible. 
QA Wolf has helped us find bugs that had been lost in our backlog and brought them to the forefront to get addressed. The team has also helped us see where our system was lacking consistent functionality.Moreover, our deployments have become more reliable and safe to release because we have the confidence that the releases have been run through the test suite. They adapted their own Asana and GitHub integrations to fit our workflow rather than forcing us into theirs, and they consistently move faster than promised, having authored 119 of our 175 budgeted tests and tracking to 80% of the budget by early May. This replaced a significant portion of manual regression testing and reduced the time required to validate releases.

The automated suite executes in minutes rather than hours, providing rapid feedback and higher confidence during release cycles. QA Wolf’s ownership of test maintenance and failure investigation reduced flakiness and noise, allowing our QA team to focus more on higher-value work earlier in the development cycle. The program’s success led us to convert from the initial POC into a year-long engagement and to expand test coverage again approximately six months later.

The main area for improvement would have been clearer alignment earlier in the engagement around test creation velocity and how quickly full value would be realized during the POC. While this was addressed through open communication and course correction, tighter expectation-setting during the sales and onboarding phases would have reduced early uncertainty.

Additionally, ROI modeling could benefit from clearer upfront assumptions and time horizons to make the value narrative easier to interpret without follow-up clarification. Beyond that, QA Wolf was receptive to feedback and consistently adjusted their approach as the partnership evolved.

We had a list of over 200 tests that we were performing manually each month to ensure the quality of our software. Our plan negotiated with QA-Wolf included 150 automated tests. They did the work of taking our list of 200 manual tests, then creating a list of automated tests that would cover such. It then fell to me to go through this list and cut things down to the requisite 150. QA Wolf then wrote those automated tests over the course of 4 months.

During this time and going forward, QA Wolf runs the entire suite of automated tests against a deployed instance of Plextrac. If any tests fail, they investigate to see if the test needs to be fixed to accomodate small changes the occurred in Plextrac. But if they determine that their tests found an actual bug, then they report such to me and my team.

QA Wolf managed to convert our entire list of manual testing while staying in the test budget we were given by management.

Every week, the tests get ran, and QA Wolf finds bugs that have occurred that wouldn't otherwise be caught.

Technically, no.

What’s considered a “test” that gets charged for is smaller than what I would normally intuit. This is something I expected coming into this service. And ultimately, I understand the approach from their perspective. Nonetheless, I’m occasionally taken aback when I pitch something as three or four tests. But then they come back and say, “No, we need to break this up into ten tests”.
