I am the CEO and co-founder of Zest, a new dating app that matches people based on their common interests through our question-based profiles that are customized to every user's personality.

We hired Polydelic to completely build out our dating app from start to finish. They helped us through two iterations of our app, with two completely different concepts.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create a fully-functioning, sleekly designed dating app.

We were recommended to Polydelic from another one of their clients, who swore by their professionalism and ability.

Describe the project in detail.

We needed a development team to build out our concept for a dating app from start to finish. We actually built out a working app with a completely different concept and had to pivot to a new idea half-way through.

The team at Polydelic was completely professional and able to bring our new idea to life and better than we even imagined.

We have been working exclusively with one designer, Oliver.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are currently live on the Apple and Google Play app stores, and are acquiring new users.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Our team at Polydelic is in always in communication with us. We are able to constantly bounce ideas off each other and innovate.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Polydelic truly cares about their clients and works constantly to put out the best possible product. They are completely professional.

There are truly no areas for improvement for Polydelic!

I’m the CEO and founder of a Norwegian startup called Requestify.

What challenge were you trying to address with Polydelic?

We had three different development teams working on three different apps of ours. We relied on Polydelic to develop the new version of our product, a live-streaming platform called RQSTIVAL.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Polydelic built the necessary APIs, along with apps for both iOS and Android. They’re currently building the web portal for the platform. Our focus was the speed of product launch.

What is the team composition?

I only talked to and worked with the founder of Polydelic, Oliver (CEO).

How did you come to work with Polydelic?

Oliver reached out to me on LinkedIn. He caught my attention because he said that he was Oslo-based and proficient in Flutter. While he was busy with projects at the time, I reached out to him a few months later when we were looking to bring on more people. After talking a little bit about the product and our ideas, he ended up building everything.  

How much have you invested with them?

Our total spend is anticipated to be around $160,000 on that specific project.

What is the status of this engagement?

The engagement officially began in March 2020 and is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our initial developer conducted a code review of the product, and couldn’t believe how clean the code was, given how quickly it was developed. We’ve also had performed live-tests, and the product is already delivering a ROI.

Oliver’s extremely goal-driven and will get stuff done in the required timeframe. He really prioritizes his client’s work, giving us the sense that he’s just as part of our team as our internal staff.

How did Polydelic perform from a project management standpoint?

He told us that the product would be live in 7 weeks, but we got it in 5 weeks. He’d send us code reviews through TestFlight. We had weekly meetups and Skype communication, and we experienced no problems.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We always get what we ask for. We see updates very quickly, and we’re always in the clear about what he’s going to build and when he will execute. He’ll always keep his word and will even deliver early. It’s truly amazing.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Oliver moves so fast that we communicate effectively via instant message or text for an immediate response rate. This communication style is amazing for the speed with which he works, but we’d also appreciate if we could have a collaborative PM tool like Trello. That’d keep us in the loop about all the things that are being swiftly executed.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very clear about what you want. The more you have ready, the easier it is for him to start. If you can create something akin to a recipe, you can best assist them in executing the project.

I am the managing director for an entertainment and gaming company.

For what projects/services did your company hire Polydelic?

We hired them to program a mobile game app. We delivered the concept of the game and Polydelic did the rest.

What were your goals for this project?

Our primary goal was to meet a tight deadline and publish the game on time.

How did you select this vendor?

We were under intense pressure to meet the schedule. We negotiated with several other companies, but many were disqualified due to higher costs or a poor understanding of our needs. We were immediately impressed by Polydelic’s motivation after the first meeting. Not only did they instantly understand the importance and challenge of our project, but they were the only vendor that promised to deliver on time with a competitive quote. 

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

The project began with an initial workshop to establish a common understanding and align expectations for results and implementation. We then approved the sprint workflow Polydelic suggested and began development. In addition to designing, developing, and configuring the entire game, they contributed supplementary concept and game story input that made the final product even better than expected. 

What was the team composition?

The project team had about five people, with certain individual varying depending upon their skill set. We had a single project manager from Polydelic for the duration, which helped facilitate seamless communication and scheduling.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

We knew from the beginning our project was in the right hands because they have some of the best developers we have ever worked with. Other companies estimated the project would take us over a year; Polydelic delivered and launched a polished, tested product in around three months, which was two weeks ahead of schedule. 

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The agile project management worked well, and every developer was extremely familiar with it. Every week, we were able to test parts of the game, complete improvements, and fix bugs. Deliverables were always completed on time and upcoming delays were conveyed to us well in advance. Multiple communication channels made current status updates easy to obtain. 

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They were fully committed to the project and the deadline from start to finish. Although they are not a large or prominent company, they have the depth and breadth of development skill sets to offer the full scope of programming services.

No, we had a successful engagement.

I’m the founder and VP of WeAreRighter. We offer a dating app for users with conservative political views.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Polydelic?

We needed a vendor to handle the full development of the application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Using a cross-platform tool, Polydelic built an iOS and Android version of our dating application. They suggested making a web version as well, but we’re still deciding whether to move forward with that initiative. In addition to the technical details, their team helped us decide on artwork and a color scheme. I provided a few logos and other brand assets, but they did the rest.

The app itself mirrors Tinder in functionality. Users swipe left or right to indicate their interest in potential matches. There’s also an in-app chat feature to facilitate conversation between compatible users.

Additionally, we’d experienced some really long delays due to Apple’s review process. Polydelic came up with a solution that allows us to bypass the approval process as much as possible. Using CodePush, their team was able to make changes, push them to the server, and publish them on the app without having to deal with another round of reviews. Now, we can easily make non-structural changes to the code.

What is the team composition?

Oliver (CEO, Polydelic) was our single point of contact, and he was fantastic throughout the project.

How did you come to work with Polydelic?

I’d hired Oliver about four years earlier to help with another project, and we stayed in touch. When looking for a developer for the dating app, I reached out to him and two other vendors. The other development teams got back to me with price agreements, and they didn’t seem right. I also wasn’t very impressed by their communication skills.

Oliver responded quickly, and his proposal fell in line with my expectations in terms of timeline and cost. I also might have been a bit biased because I was familiar with the quality of his work and his communication skills. I knew that we’d be on the same page. Oliver is smart and personable, and he really understands projects. When we initially discussed my plan, he even made additional suggestions that I’d overlooked. He was the perfect fit, and we quickly put together a final quote.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $30,000 on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Polydelic in July 2018. They completed the first beta versions around September, and we submitted the final products to their respective app stores in early October. We kept the app in beta testing and decided that we needed to make some drastic changes, so we pushed the launch date to December.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We officially launched the apps in early December, and we’re currently ninth on Google Play and eleventh on the App Store. We have about 10,000 downloads and 2,000 active daily users. The product is generating revenue, so we see a return on our investment. We’re implementing some marketing strategies to continue to promote the app. Based on their exemplary performance, we’ll go back to them whenever we need to make any technical changes.

The quality of the platform was very high, and we didn’t run into any major issues. But, there were a few bugs. Apple didn’t approve the entire app package, so that caused some problems right after we launched. The subscription process wasn’t accepted, so users weren’t able to fully sign up for the service. Polydelic quickly submitted an update for Apple’s review, and the problem was fixed promptly. There were a few other bugs with information entry, but Polydelic stayed on top of them and made the necessary changes.

How did Polydelic perform from a project management standpoint?

Despite working from different time zones, the Polydelic team was always available when we need them. We interacted primarily via Skype, phone calls, texts, and a few other channels. They worked very hard to complete their work on time.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their attention to detail and dedicated work ethic were extremely valuable. In my experience with past developers, a lot of vendors take their time in the development process or require pushes from our end to get their work done. The Polydelic team does what they’re paid to do, completing each task quickly without sacrificing any quality. Their approach helped us get our product to market earlier, which we really appreciate.

Also, their team is very easy to work with. They understood our priorities, and that was very helpful from my perspective because I can focus on other things. I could count on Polydelic to diligently address any issues and complete all of our requests. Oliver was more like a teammate rather than a contracted worker. In my opinion, the Polydelic team is worth their weight in gold.
