We had a need to develop a custom solution to manage our leads as well as sales and inventory management at our retail locations. We had a goal of getting a solution that can connect all the different departments of the company and run it as a defragmented unified system.

We were approached by this vendor as a referral. This vendor met me in person. They had a tiny setup but the main person was knowledgeable and driven. We adopted a Rapid Application Development model. They were able to communicate on continuous basis and were able to mobilize the project rather quickly.

This project was an ongoing project already written in .Net MVC framework with JQuery Frontend using bootstrap themes along with sql server databases.

There a total of 3 people initially given the small size of the team but other resources were added later on.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The project was a prolonged project and it required a lot of planning and development time. There were moments of frustration because of the requirement gathering not being accurately done but due to the excessive availability of this team, we were able to complete 70% of the requirements within the specified time frame.

The PM was mostly done using the general communication tools however there were a cursory use of Jira however without any specific methodology implemented which would have been nice.

The lead developer was accessible. They are also driven to take on lots of work as well as involved with BA work as well made an unstructured but effective approach that can work for certain types of clients.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They have a good amount of talent and their approach is go full force into the development however planning and requirement gathering and documentation is not their forte which needs to be included in the PM steps.
