What challenge were you trying to address with PARSE Technologies and Consulting?

We needed to run independent tests on an app in one of our incubators and help suggest and communicate improvements to our development team.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

PARSE Technologies and Consulting provided functional and non-functional testing services. The team verified that all features and functions of the app worked as intended. They also assessed the UI and UX to judge the ease of use for new and non-tech-savvy customers.

The main deliverables included the following:

- A test plan document that outlined the overall strategy, scope, objectives, types of testing, resources, timelines, and entry/exit criteria for the testing engagement.

- Defect reports, which were detailed records of all the issues, errors, or bugs found, including steps to reproduce them and their severity.

- A test summary report that outlined the app's current state, legal compliance, and readiness for launch. It also outlined the key recommendations and retesting plan.

How did you come to work with PARSE Technologies and Consulting?

We found PARSE Technologies and Consulting through a referral. We chose them because they were quick and open in communicating. They also took the time to do a proper discovery to understand our needs and communicated their work and pricing well.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with PARSE Technologies and Consulting from April–June 2025.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The main measurable outcome was a shared technical document in the form of a checklist table that had testing progress, outcomes, and recommendations. The weekly plan was shared on WhatsApp, and we could log into the shared table and see the team check off items. We could leave notes on the table, and they would either respond in the table or schedule a meeting for clarification.

We also noticed that certain features from the design document we received from our developers were impossible to test manually. However, PARSE Technologies and Consulting was able to stress test the app. They also had insights into the app's performance that we didn't have much experience with, such as Linux machines and Android tablets.

How did PARSE Technologies and Consulting perform from a project management standpoint?

PARSE Technologies and Consulting's project management was brilliant. The team was friendly, professional, and communicative. We communicated via WhatsApp messages and calls. Best comprehensive you’ll find at this price-point. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were most impressed with how thorough they were about discovery. They spent a lot of time upfront making sure we were on the same page so we didn't have unexpected costs that sometimes spring up in our field. We developed a wide variety of apps in a budding African market. As a result, many situations arose that weren't in the textbook and could send a project way over budget.

However, PARSE Technologies and Consulting spent a lot of time on discovery and investigating our needs before stating the costs involved. As a result, both the schedule and costs stayed within budget.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could take breaks on weekends. PARSE Technologies and Consulting seemed to work 24/7, so I had to encourage them to take the weekends off.
