Other Land embedded one senior product designer with our team for around nine months. She was our only designer, primarily responsible for the product, but she also supported design for our marketing site and other company initiatives.

The work covered both new feature development and improving existing flows (designing new product features from scratch, refining user journeys, and enhancing usability across key parts of the platform).

What made this engagement different was how closely design sat inside our AI workflow. Our CTO works in Cursor, and the designer worked there too, which meant design and development shared one workflow instead of two. She used AI heavily to move fast (generating UI directions, exploring generative UI patterns, and turning concepts into working prototypes) and then applied her design judgement on top of that output. The result was consistently stronger than what we were able to generate on our own.

Deliverables included UX concepts, high-fidelity UI designs, coded prototypes and generative UI explorations, design system components, marketing and brand assets, and ongoing iteration based on product needs.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We saw clear progress in delivery speed and overall flexibility. Design stopped being a separate stage, because the designer worked inside the same AI tooling as our engineers, ideas went from concept to prototype to shipped feature with far fewer handoffs and review rounds.

The quality of our interfaces also went up noticeably. AI got us to a first version quickly, but her design experience is what made those versions actually good: cleaner hierarchy, more considered flows, and a product that finally felt consistent. Other Land integrated well with our team and roadmap, which helped us move faster, stay aligned on priorities, and continuously ship improvements without slowing down.

Other Land stayed well aligned with our roadmap and internal processes. The designer was fully integrated into our team, well-organized, and easy to collaborate with. She worked in the same tools we do like Figma for design, Cursor alongside our CTO for implementation, so there was never a separate design track to manage. They consistently delivered on time and were responsive to our needs throughout the project.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We were impressed by how deeply AI is built into their design process. Our designer used AI throughout her process to move at close to engineering speed, but she never shipped raw AI output. She used her design experience to shape and improve it. That combination is rare. We can generate interfaces ourselves, but what we could not do was consistently make them good. She could, and she did it fast.

The designer also jumped into projects that were relatively unstructured and thought from first principles to define scope - so she effectively took on the roles of product manager, designer and shipping code, all in one.

Their ability to get started immediately also stood out. We were able to kick off collaboration right away, which made a big difference for our pace.

We're fully satisfied with the collaboration and didn't see any major areas for improvement. We'd happily work with them again. They also took feedback well on small items that came up.

We brought Other Land in to support us across the whole product, which is a fairly complex AI local marketing platform with many modules like Listings, Surveys, and our AI assistant. The collaboration started with a UX review of the core flows, where the team helped us spot weak spots in navigation and in how data is presented across multiple locations. From there, they moved into hands-on design work, refreshing key parts of the UI, redesigning complex screens like the unified inbox and review management, and shaping clearer onboarding for new users. A big part of the work was building a proper design system. It now covers most of our components, and it sped up how fast our team can ship new functionality and stay visually consistent. We also worked together on the design of new AI-driven features and on flows that make multi-location management feel less heavy.

The new UI clearly raised the perceived quality of the platform, and we hear it from clients during demos. Design is no longer a bottleneck for us, which was the main thing we wanted to fix.

Even with the time difference, we got into a comfortable rhythm pretty quickly. Deliverables came on time, and the team was always open to feedback and changes when our priorities shifted.

Honestly, no big complaints. As a startup, a lower fee is always nice, but the value we got back made the spend worth it. The time zone gap took some adjusting on both sides at the start, though we found a good rhythm quickly and it stopped being an issue.

Working with the guys was a great experience. They gave our website a fresh, modern look and really improved the main user flows for both guests and hosts. We especially appreciated how much thought they put into the onboarding process for each type of user.

They also redesigned important parts of the product like the listing catalog and individual listing pages, and helped us bring new features from our roadmap to life, including listing modifications and video reviews.

In the end, they delivered everything in Figma with a clean design system and reusable components that make it easy for us to keep building.

I really value what we were able to build together.

Getting our first designer up to speed took a little longer than we hoped but that was because our design documentation was extremely limited and unclear. The overhauling our design system and establishing clear design processes with our first designer made it so that the next designer did not have to experience that same struggle. Our timezones made communication a little delayed and scheduling a little more restricted. But we were able to collaborate and communicate with no issues.

I started working with Other Land after I had created a rough mock up of my vision using Figma. This was my first venture into creating an app, so I had a very basic/limited understanding of the process. The team at Other Land not only assisted me with the designs, but they helped me to focus and prioritize my ideas into an MVP. They really helped me define and organize what features I wanted in the MVP, and what features could be pushed to the second update, etc. They offered their expertise in what would be most cost efficient and/or useful and opened my eyes to many things I would have never considered. They worked very collaboratively with me and communicated/updated me frequently so there were no surprises and the design came out exactly how we wanted. They were so helpful and went above and beyond to offer expertise, options, and advice while still supporting my vision and decisions. The designs they produced were very easy to transition into code according to the development team, and they were available for any questions during that transition period. I now have a working product with a great interface that I am actively promoting!

We worked weekly sprints to accomplish meaningful progress on the project. First, we brainstormed my idea and condensed/defined it into what we wanted in the MVP. Then, we moved into a validation phase where the team at Other Land ran interviews and market research to help me test my assumptions/if there was a need for this product. This allowed us to hone in the product to ensure it was fulfilling specific wants from users. After that, we used that data to clearly define the core product and it's key features. Finally, in preparation for the transition to the development team, we polished the UX, defined a brand identity, and addressed any questions/comments from the development team.

I couldn't be happier. The team communicated very well and kept me updated on everything from big shifts to small decisions. I was always filled in on what progress was completed every day and felt very included in the whole process. Our culture fit and communication were very impressive right from the start. You can tell they are very professional and skilled in their roles, but are also very easy to talk to and get along with.
