BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm a part of the marketing team of a web development company Xfive.co. My responsibility is taking care of our website, content creation and other marketing activities.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire obys agency?

We felt that our branding had no longer accurately represented who we are and how our offer evolved after more than a decade in the business. We wanted to reach out to bigger clients and projects and for that we needed more professionally looking brand and website.

What were your goals for this project?

Our new brand image should more accurately represent our company and offer and on what type of projects we are able to work on. As a result we should be able to attract bigger clients and projects with bigger scope.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We were exploring potential rebranding direction for quite some time already, when obys reached out to us with their offer. We immediately liked their Dribbble and Behance portfolio full of creative designs. obys has offered us a significant discount on the first project with them, so we thought it was a good opportunity to start with our brand refresh. We had a call with their creative director and we felt that our cooperation could work.

Describe the scope of their work in detail.

We started by sharing a vision for our refreshed brand and some of the materials we already created before like parts of the content and wireframes. obys then shared their ideas about how our new brand could look like and we discussed those to find a common ground. In the next phases, they gradually created and delivered to us: new logo and main brand color, business cards, brochures and pricebooks, new website moodboards and UI designs including animation previews and finally social media banners. In each phase we were in close contact on Slack, providing feedback and approving deliverables.

What was the team composition?

On our side it was a marketing team consisting of two people. We were in a direct contact with obys’ art director and also worked with their graphic designers and UI designer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We have just recently completed the brand refresh by launching our new website so it’s a bit too early for evaluation. But initial reactions to our new brand image are very positive. We have submitted site to various web awards and for example received Special Kudos on CSS Design Awards. Our most important metrics, the quality of leads, seems to be increasing too.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

obys art director regularly informed us about the project progress on Slack and shared deliverables for approval. When working on the website UI we used Figma so we had an immediate overview of completed screens, as well as we could provide feedback directly in Figma. The agency also worked very fast.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It’s a large amount of talent and creativity concentrated in such a small company. I still regularly visit their Dribbble profile to enjoy some new creative shots and design explorations.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Some of the agency approaches, although they were meant well, eventually didn’t fit our workflow very well, for example the indentation system for the website. But things like these are natural on the first projects and can be easily fixed on future collaborations.
