What challenge were you trying to address with NewAgeSMB?

We needed support to develop a mobile application for a children's book we had written.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

NewAgeSMB took the animated version of the book and made it accessible for iOS and Android. This project was a new venture for us since we hadn't developed an app before. The team let us know upfront they weren't animators, so we provided the app's visual elements, and NewAgeSMB guided us through the technical requirements. NewAgeSMB gave us limitations regarding development and designed the app based on the animations we provided. Additionally, NewAgeSMB developed a website for us.

What is the team composition?

We worked mainly with two NewAgeSMB teammates, who referred to other team members occasionally. 

How did you come to work with NewAgeSMB?

We interviewed several development companies before contacting NewAgeSMB and had an interview process with them. The team was helpful from the beginning and recognized that we didn't have experience with the development process.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $20,000 on this project.

What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with NewAgeSMB from January–July 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The app delivered by NewAgeSMB was a financial success for us and helped our book take off. The team guided us through the process of getting the app and the website up and running. We were delighted with NewAgeSMB's work quality, and when something in the app wasn't working correctly, the team always corrected it. Overall, NewAgeSMB was helpful and warned us upfront that they were based in India, which worked out seamlessly. We met teammates that we still collaborate with. 

How did NewAgeSMB perform from a project management standpoint?

The project went over the initially projected period, although this wasn't because of a problem on NewAgeSMB's part. Sometimes, we needed more time to deliver the animations. NewAgeSMB was responsive via Zoom meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?
I was impressed by NewAgeSMB's patience throughout the project since we were new to the process of creating an app. We were unaware of what we could do and asked for the app, and NewAgeSMB walked us through the process to know what was possible.

Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything for NewAgeSMB to improve on. We were very happy with the app's final result.
