I’m the CEO of TaxFilingGuru, an online tax and legal portal in India. We provide taxation, corporate, and legal services for individuals, entrepreneurs, and companies.

We needed to develop a custom, tax-filing software solution.

What were your goals for this project?

Filing tax returns online is difficult for most people in India because the few options available online are complicated and not user-friendly. We wanted to enable the general public to file their tax returns online easily with a fast, error-free system.

How did you select this vendor?

Net Soft Solutions had developed a couple of projects for us in the past, although they were not on the same scale. However, we were quite confident in their technical prowess. We contacted a few other vendors as well, but after a lot of deliberation, we decided to avail ourselves of Net Soft Solutions' services again.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

Net Soft developed a form-based frontend that is simple for people with minimal IT experience to use. The backend is supported by logic implemented per government taxation standards. The software generates the correct type of filing based on the information the user enters and automatically records their data in XML

They also included a permissions-based admin system so admin users can access the administrative sections they’re cleared for. This admin section allows us to manage users' and filings' details and returns' data. There’s also a reporting module that generates various types of reports.

What was the team composition?

We worked with 10 people.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

Almost all our clients transitioned to using only our online portal to file their returns. Furthermore, a large number of new clients were introduced to our portal by other clients, which shows the popularity and recognition we’re gaining in India. Internally, the system’s automation let us reduce our manpower by half while exponentially increasing the number of returns we file.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They arranged the project quite professionally. The project manager kept in constant touch with us and made it standard practice to update us about the work in progress. They held regular discussions regarding various taxation and technical parameters and made it abundantly clear that they knew what to do and how to do it.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Generally, when a company starts growing their client base, their quality starts deteriorating. Over the past few years, Net Soft Solutions has vastly increased their client base without compromising their quality standards.

Are there any areas where they can improve?

I would advise them to venture into other areas (e.g., animation). They’re quite skilled at software and web development, but it would be good for them to start providing other services as well.
