I worked with Motive to refine the script for a documentary project, to produce the project, to film the project, and to edit / animate the project.  They basically were my saviors from the beginning, offering a finished script, look-book, and 30min pilpt episode at (under!) budget.

Finishing script - finding location - hiring crew - hiring post-productiom crew - filming - editing - animations - music.  Basically, a professional quality documentary for mainstrem TV / streamimg.

There was one senior producer, one director, and ome project assistant.  All items were delivered on time (early!) and on budget (lower than budget!).  They were always available and made me feel like a part of the team.

Their passion and personalibility.  Honestly, I never once struggled working with them: they were avaliable, always kept me in the loop, adapted for my ideas, told me when my ideas were weak (rightly so!), and genuinely made me feel lile part of the Motivo team.  When we get funding for the complete documentary, I have EVERY intention of doing the entire project with this team - they were beyond all expectations.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Motivo Media could have done differently?

Honestly - no.  I know that sounds silly, but from start to finish, I never felt like we were going in the wrong direction.  They killed this project and I consider mysepf.lucky for having selected such a great team.  They know their stuff and know how to work with clients: rare mix!

In collaboration with Motivo, we produced a feature length documentary on politics in Chicago. Motivo was primarily responsible for post production services and oversaw all phases of the edit and delivery of the film.

Motivo's post production team includes senior and junior editors, talented animators, and engaged producers. We also collaborated together on pre-production including project budgets, concept development, scripting and story producing. The final product was a world class feature length documentary that has garnered over 1 million views in the 3 months since release.

Motivo's most impressive characteristic is the work ethic of its team. Each team member is dedicated to excellence in their craft, but also understands that successful collaboration often requires intense dedication of time and energy to ensure the highest quality deliverable. In producing a feature film together, we became more than working partners, we developed a deep creative bond that was critical to the success of the project.

We have worked with Motivo Media for multiple years on different video projects. Each involves initial meetings to flesh out goals, concepts, scope, and budget. Sometimes we provide the script--sometimes Motivo interviews key staff and drafts a script. Drafts are reviewed and finalized and storyboards are created. There are rounds of reviews at each stage, and Tim and his staff are great at taking feedback and incorporating it. 

They handle as much of a project as you want them to - but give you as much control as you want to have where you feel a project needs company-specific attention. Deliverables include an outline, first draft, second (usually final) draft, style samples (for any graphics or shots), a rough cut of the video (so there is still opportunity to change direction, if needed), two rounds of edits, and a final. 

Tim's team also manages travel arangement, hiring crews, renting filming locations, and everything else related to production days. The projects we have worked on together vary from minutes to thirty depending on the subject and scope of the project.

I think of Motivo as an extention of my team and feel they are truly invested in the work we are doing and dedicated to telling our stories in the most compelling way possible. The team worked on tight deadlines when necessary and was understanding when my team was not able to stay on schedule and adjusted without complaints. Tim is alway happy to have a conversation to dicuss any concerns and works with me until we come to a solution.

The team is very personable and easy to work with - but they are also extremely inquisitive and have lots of questions. They really want to understand the full subject matter that we are talking about in the videos to make sure that we are not only giving an accurately representation of the subject, but conveying the information in the most interesting way to grab the viewer and draw them in. They are extremely collaborative and we're able to build off of each other's ideas.

I have never had an issue that wasn't immediately resolved.

Byteboard has redesigned the technical interview to be more fair, equitable, and effective. I serve as Chief of Staff at Byteboard and was responsible for review and approval of Motivo's work product.

Byteboard was interested in creating a number of video assets to be used in-platform and for external marketing purposes.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We looked for vendors who were available for set date, within range, and whose work samples aligned to our vision for final product.

We received a proposal, shared scripts, recorded videos, and then went though editing process with team post-production.

Who did you work with and what was the feedback process like?

We worked with a producer (recording) and editor on editing and finalization of the final product. Team was very agreeable to multiple revisions and edits based on Byteboard's vision for the final project.

We used the video on our social media. Unfortunately, the end result for one of the videos didn't fit our initial intent, so we are looking to repurpose it outside of platform. Very satisfied with quality of results and team's willingness to adjust and iterate on videos.

Not much to share here - the team used email, Descript, and another video editing/commenting tool with which I am not familiar.

We were trying to put together a video that could tell our story; we wanted visitors to better understand what we do.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Motivo Media created several videos for us that showcase our services. Their team was in charge of the storyboarding and script writing, which we provided feedback on. They then directed, shot, and edited the videos for us. 

The marketing video we initially wanted them to create is 2–3 minutes long and is posted on our website. The other they created is 8–10 minutes long and is used for fundraising and business development — we show it to potential investors and partners. 

Motivo Media has also helped us with photography and marketing campaigns.

We’ve gotten amazing feedback from website visitors who have viewed the video — we’ve converted a lot of customers. We’ve also converted some investors.

How did Motivo Media perform from a project management standpoint? 

We’ve been happy with Motivo Media’s project management — they were able to work within the first video’s aggressive timeline. Motivo Media’s end-to-end services have streamlined the entire video process. 

Their team has outlined their projects using an agile framework, frequently updating the action item tracking list. Motivo Media has also kept us updated on projects through email and Slack.

The quality of their work makes them stand out from other providers.

I can’t think of anything for them to improve.

We hired the Motivo Media team to help us plan, shoot and produce several how to and service videos for our client, with the goal of reducing bad specimen's to the Lab.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We interviewed several media firms, some responded and then motivo responded with a full proposal and shared all their creative work. Their response time and past creative video work helped us to see that they had the skills to support our client.

We started with several discovery sessions agency to agency and then together with the client. We built scripts and we did a load of pre-scheduling of crew, talent and had to confirm vaccinations, it was very thorough. They cared and we cared about keeping everyone healthy and safe for the shoot.

We worked closely with Tim and Lisha to plan, schedule and script the video shoot. Lisha went above and beyond as the producer and managed the agency team, client team and video team all the way through.

Client was very pleased with the final video's and we as an agency are thrilled that the customer would work with us and motivo media again.

What challenge were you trying to address with Motivo Media?

We needed a promotional video featuring an interview with a doctor and their patients who were using our device.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Motivo Media produced a promotional video for us. They started with a discovery phase to learn about our product. We shipped the device to them, and they did research and used it to ensure they understood it. After that, we set up the filming schedule and had meetings to ensure everyone was on the same page. 

On the shooting day, they visited the doctor’s clinic and filmed the interview. The team edited the video and provided the first draft. We had a few minor revision requests and asked them to film additional footage, which they did. Finally, they delivered the final cut.  

What is the team composition?

We worked with Tim (Co-Founder), Lisha (Production Coordinator), and 2–3 more teammates involved on the day of shooting. 

How did you come to work with Motivo Media?

I found them on Clutch and contacted them to learn about their company. They provided very detailed information and past work experience. I loved how Motivo Media explained everything in detail and was willing to provide more information if needed, so I decided to work with them.

We worked together from September–October 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I was very happy with the results of Motivo Media's work. Since they delivered the final cut of the video a week ago, we haven't used it much yet. However, we'll use it for our trade show exhibition and social media advertising. The quality is really good; it's designed for trade shows and investor meetings and has an interview with a medical professional and his patients. Therefore, I believe it will positively impact our sales and brand image based on past experience. 

The final cut was very well done, and both our US team and the team at our headquarters in South Korea were very happy. Motivo Media thoroughly understood our product and technology and did a very good job representing it. They also maintained an excellent relationship with the doctor they interviewed. 

Moreover, they did everything very professionally. I've worked with other video production agencies, and Motivo Media has been one of the best partners we've had in terms of outcome, communication, and commitment. Overall, our experience with them was great, and I would give them top marks. 

How did Motivo Media perform from a project management standpoint?

They were transparent on the budget from the beginning. We had a very tight deadline, and they did their best to meet all the requirements and even went above and beyond to provide the first draft of the video before the promised date, which was impressive. 

Motivo Media was very flexible and prompt in responding whenever I had questions or needed to confirm something. They were also responsive to revision requests and executed them quickly. Overall, I was very impressed with their smooth process. 

We mainly communicated via text messages and phone calls, and we also had Zoom meetings.

I was impressed by Motivo Media's commitment, communication, and quality of work.

No, we had no negative experiences with them; they did a really good job. When we requested additional footage, they were willing to help and to ensure their video satisfied all our needs.
