BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I'm the CEO of Jagan Solutions, an AI and Scientific Computing company. We are a team of developers based in various locations around Poland. We help clients improve their business processes focusing on fraud detection, audience entertainment and experience, admin, finance, and other processes (which can be automated, accelerated or enhanced).

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire MORAI, and what were your goals?

We hired MORAI to aid us in one of the projects, which targeted the development of a Machine Learning model, which would power an Axie Infinity bot player. This was needed for one very skilful and a very successful Axie Infinity player. During the development of his skills in Axie he realized, that he would greatly benefit if he could test and validate his game strategies with a sparring partner.

However, it couldn’t just be any sparring partner, as his game strategies were to stay confidential. He needed a bot of satisfactory (meaning very high) skills in Axie Infinity. In other words: our client needed a solution that would not only work without human supervision, but also at a level comparable to that of a human master player. This is exactly what MORAI set out for.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We met MORAI as fellow participants of the 2021 edition of the Future of AI conference. They right away radiated a professional approach to Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. They also offered a cross-functional team and offered to carry out non-core tasks if necessary. We hired them, because they had the credentials, seemed adept at AI and Machine Learning, and offered the flexibility we were looking for.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

MORAI began with establishing who’s who in a professional atmosphere. They worked issue tracking and communication channels (YouTrack, Google Chat) and encouraged everyone on the project to use them. Phase 1 consisted of research into Machine Learning techniques, which could be used to achieve the end goal. The content of the research included Reinforcement Learning algorithms suitable for use in the project as well as analysis of available IT frameworks and the feasibility of their implementation in the project. 

Phase 2 meant porting the game to C++ and conducting extensive testing as well as implementation of a web-application capable of simulation and multiplayer modes. This phase is ongoing and the results are promising.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked with the Founder and the R&D Manager as well as two Machine Learning Engineers.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

The outcome included specification of a premiere Machine Learning agent, able to compete and beat humans in Axie Infinity, which matched our needs for an Axie sparring partner.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

MORAI are flexible in the project management style, always adapting to the project dynamics. It was never a problem to find a meeting slot or the right person to handle a specific issue, for example. They used Google Chat, YouTrack, traditional e-mails, phone calls, etc.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

This company is a family run business who really care about the quality of the services they provide. Literally everyone I have worked with from MORAI was up to the task and appropriately qualified. And it was the family, who ensured it.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Nothing comes to mind at the minute. I was generally very satisfied with their work and work style. Will hire them again when the time is right.
