BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Co-founder of Rockstars Development, a company that is focused on helping startups define and build their software products.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Mediatic, and what were your goals?

We had a client for whom we provided product management services, but they also needed software development. As we did not have all the needed resources for the development phase, we reached out to Mediatic to complement our team with 2 PHP - Symfony developers. The goal was to put together a team that could deliver the project to our final client.

SOLUTION

How did you select Mediatic and what were the deciding factors?

We have been in talks with them, for a potential collaboration, because we saw that they have great technical skills for PHP and related technologies. As our customer wanted to build the back-end in Symfony, for their eCommerce platform, we saw this as a good opportunity to start our collaboration with Mediatic as they are focused both on Symfony and eCommerce. The deciding factor for us was the fact that we presented the project to them, the needs, the expected results, etc, and they came up with a solid plan and a great proposal for the technical architecture.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Our team worked mostly on defining and prioritizing the set of features from a business use case point of view, and then we debated this information with the Mediatic team. In the next step, Mediatic came up with the proposal for the architecture and a roadmap for the back-end implementation, based on Symfony.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

There were 2 developers. One took the role of the technical lead and the second one was a senior developer.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We worked in sprints and we managed to finish the project in the time that was first estimated with no delays. The code was periodically reviewed and the quality exceeded our expectations. We were also very impressed with the level of PHP knowledge, that the Mediatic team has.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We decided on daily standups, and deliverables every 2 weeks. Most communication was done through Slack and video calls, and the Mediatic team was very self-aware in terms of the communication expectations, and they were always involved.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They have a great management team: the General Manager and the CTO have a great synergy and are able to have a great understanding of project needs. Besides this, they have great communication skills both with outside partners/clients and within their internal team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

The project was a success.
