A Creative Film & Digital Video & Agency
MEDIAPOP Films is a full-service and multi-disciplinary film, video production, photography, and content creation studio serving clients across a broad range of industries.
We love working with the people behind the brands, collaborating to bring the best out of both teams with style and emotion.
Since 2008, we have been producing award-winning work by focusing on quality, service, creativity, and craftsmanship. We blend language, imagery, music, color, and sound into stories that deliver emotion and impact.
WHAT WE PRODUCE:
Meet your customer. Let them know a little about you aligned with the mission, vision, and values you set out.
Videos for Social Media
Create content that shares your story, product, service, and goal. These are short, sweet, shareable, likeable, and geared for your feed.
There’s a message that needs to get out to your stakeholders. Maybe it’s an initiative, company culture, new direction – video is a powerful communication tool.
From big budget to little budget, sometimes you need to take it to the big screen (the smaller big screen). You’ve got 30 seconds to grab them, we create the emotion.
A great script with great production and an incredible cast – oh and a pretty decent budget – will get that film produced. We’re doing pre-production on one right now
The narrative is imperative. This is a story that needs to be told, whether you’re embarking on a journey of self discovery or something incredible is happening and it needs to be shared.
The video medium ports over well to photography. Event, landscape, architectural, portrait, and people. We’ve taken all kinds of photos of all kinds of things with our same style and creativity.
Did you know? We own and operate OwlBox Construction Time-Lapse, a short and long-term time-lapse photography company. Check out the website: http://www.owlbox.ca

With just over a week to prep, we were approached by Happy Place and Apple to locally produce Apple Music’s Up Next featuring Tate McRae. While Tate already has a massive following and her music resonates with so many, Apple Music’s choice of Canada’s Tate McRae is just the beginning of an amazing music career.
Filmed over two days in Calgary, Banff, and Kananaskis, Alberta. We were in charge of hiring Crew, Talent Relations, Location Scouting, Line Producing, COVID Safety, and overall Production Management. We’re really proud to have worked with Happy Place and Apple Music and became even bigger fans of Tate McRae and her immense talent.
During the COVID-19 pandemic everything has changed. For Drag performers like Perla Coddington, this means shifting to a different outlet for their performances. Director Ryan Northcott filmed this performance (socially distanced and wearing protective equipment) of Perla doing “Don’t Start Now” and “Levitate” by Dua Lipa. The video is part of Elevate YVR’s “LoveStream” – a live stream even to raise money for Action Against Hunger and the Drag Performers from across Canada.
“Once Upon a Pandemic” is the heartwarming and heartbreaking story of a young girl Maddie, self-isolated in her home during a global pandemic while her Mom is in strict quarantine away from the family. Maddie leans on her Dad for guidance, but finds that he can’t always be there for her, so she learns to cope with a heartbreaking twist with the resiliency only a child has.
The phenomenon that was Car Dance Party Belgium was not only a huge hit, but also gave Toyota a much bigger ROI on investment than they anticipated.
For the last 5 years we’ve been producing (directing, cinematography, and editing too!) video and long-term timelapse for the Calgary’s New Central Library through our companies Mediapop Films and OwlBox. It’s been an amazing and passionate journey watching it grow from piles of dirt to the architectural landmark it is today.
The videos coming up are a culmination of that journey. Opening day is a short time away and I am immensely proud to have been involved.
An hour south of Seattle, Washington we took to the ground and the sky to film for 4Front Ventures – a next generation company in the Cannabis industry. Their state of the art facility is nestled in the natural splendor of Washington State, but inside the facility there is nothing but the latest technology producing some of the purest product.
Starring Hercules himself, Kevin Sorbo, and his wife/producer Sam Sorbo, we were lucky to go behind the scenes of the film “Miracle in East Texas” (formerly known as East Texas Oil). Over several days we filmed scenes, interviews with cast and crew, and the beautiful backdrop of Alberta – one of the world’s best places to film. The film stars Kevin Sorbo, John Ratzenberger, Sam Sorbo, and more.
Take a look behind the scenes at the installation of FISH, by artist Christian Moeller, at Calgary’s new Central Library. Alongside Carlson Arts, LLC, five incredible volunteers sorted and installed 11,000 books to create the image of a fish. This artwork measures approximately three metres (10 feet) tall by 14 metres (45 ft) wide and is located on the third floor of the library.
It isn’t often that the people you are filming are working harder or lifting more gear than you, but that was the case in these social media and brand videos for Passage Studios in Calgary. With Yoga, Spin, and HIIT the group we filmed busted their asses to allow us to get the right shots for these beautiful and inspirational videos.
