BACKGROUND

Please describe your company and your position there.

I make jams & jellies with locally sourced ingredients. This past year I finally took the step forward into selling professionally, and started building my local & online presence. I'm the sole owner of this new company, What's in the Jar NY.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire mattbuildswebsites.com LLC, and what were your goals?

I was starting from scratch, and needed guidance in the right way to build my website. I needed everything - the right company name that was also available as a domain, a honed visual design based on the content and basic concepts I had, and a growth strategy to keep the website super simple and quick-to-launch in the beginning, with a road map to continue building as I go.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Matt was quick to respond, actually listened and paid attention to the details I gave him and the concerns I had, and was eager to get to work. He kept things simple and effective, which I really appreciated.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

He advised on a solid domain name and secured it for me, built the site on Wordpress, set me up with an email account and admin access so I can add content to certain pages on my own. He added an events page and we have next step plans in place to add a products page powered by Shopify for ecommerce capabilities.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

Matt is the owner and does it all.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Everything was exactly as I expected or better than I expected. He had great creative ideas for a solid visual design that I liked - he chose a color palette based on a photograph I'd given him and I ended up using his color palette for my logo. It's already getting great traffic!

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timeliness.

Matt seems capable & willing to meet and manage projects over any platform desired by his customer - anything from meeting in person to zoom calls to just by text. Being local to me, I benefitted from a few in person meetings to engage over the development of the website but he communicates well enough that I'd have felt just as comfortable by email only.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

As a one man operation, he's incredibly fast & efficient with a wide range of capabilities from concept to launch to maintenance, and everything else you'd need for a successful site including SEO and google product management. I felt like even if I needed something he hadn't done yet, he would put in the time and effort to learn and execute it.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Not so far, I look forward to continuing phase 2 with him in the coming months.
