The true test came with a complex request for a custom racing genoa from a repeat client in Monaco. Using the new portal, the client input all his measurements and requirements. The system generated an initial visual draft and quote in minutes. What used to take three days of back-and-forth emails was resolved in a single afternoon. The client signed off immediately, noting it was the easiest custom order he had ever placed.

They managed their projects in a transparent and flexible manner.  They made use of a shared dashboard that allowed us to view progress in real time.  They didn't object when we discovered in the middle of the project that the system needed to interface with a certain, outdated CAD program that our designers use.  After learning the API and setting up a call with the CAD software's support staff, their lead developer was able to create a functional integration prototype in under two weeks.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their commitment to learning our craft was what impressed me the most.  Their UX designer spent a day in our loft drawing and questioning our master sailmakers before they wrote a single line of code.  As a result, they suggested the "Design Snapshot" function, which is a watermarked, automatically created preview image of the sail design.  This one feature, which resulted from that on-site visit, has significantly decreased misconceptions and been quite helpful for client approvals.

In the beginning, we occasionally couldn't understand the technical jargon used in our weekly syncs.  Rather than APIs and endpoints, our team specializes in Dacron and Kevlar.  They easily transitioned to using more visual aids and layman's words after we requested it.  My single recommendation for an otherwise perfect collaboration would be to start using this client-friendly communication approach at the very first meeting.
