I needed a company logo that fit my brand by the 20th of Jan that i could use for my digital products, my initial outreach was on the 9th of Jan, a complete logo and brand guide was delivered on the 30th, (it was a little late due to a redesign requested by myself), Hannah worked with me throughout the process and kept me up to date and delivered a product i was hoping for.

It wasnt delivered on time through fault of my own, i did not like the designs i had initially recieved which lead to Hannah to throw it out and start from scratch and do a total redesign, she was very responsive and communicative.

The biggest thing i didnt like, was the questioneer, i think this could be better built using something like google forms or a spreadsheet for the questions so that the user knows where and how to enter the information, this would improve the customers experience and make it easier for the designers to sort through the answers, i think that there could be a bit better clarity within the questioneer as well.

I worked with Michelle on my logo design.  Specifically, I worked with Melissa.  They did a great job asking questions to find out what I was about and what outcome I was interested in with my logo.  They were heavy into the feel and "aura" that the logo would eventually create.  I like that a lot.  Full disclosure, I didn't like the primary three logos that were pitched to me but that actually ended up being a blessing.  Melissa shared her initial logo idea with me after I told her that my response to seeing the logo had to be a "Yes!" and none of the primary three were giving me that feeling.  It was Option 4 that was my yes!.  She told me she loosely drew it up while we were in our initial session where she was listening to what I had to say and what I wanted.  Thanks for listening to your gut, Melissa!  My "yes" happened when you listened to that quiet voice inside.  You rock!

The focus of this project was the creation of a logo to represent my custom furniture making company during the business creation phase. Initial discussion focused on the needs for the logo & how the process would work. Then the conversation moved to clarification of the business, how I would work with clients & the company's style of product & service.

Then, after logo design work, several design ideas were presented for review. I provided feedback on the several options, one logo was selected as the starting point to be expanded upon & several ideas for enhancement & changes. After another round of design work, new options were delivered for review, one was selected, and all publishing formats were delivered.

I tried a different designer prior who wanted me to basically sketch a design, and then they created my sketch. I appreciate Michelle's approach to design and learning about her customers. They applied my responses to her initial questionnaire and created something beautiful.

Marin Design created a couple of different logos that I use for my seasoning business. This included asking me for detailed feedback on what I was looking for, multiple draft options to choose from, and options for free edits. I loved the designs so much that I purchased two variations, both of which I use on my products and in our marketing strategies. 

I also came back to Marin Design for product packaging. I needed a label design that I could adapt for new products as we continue to grow. Once again the process was smooth, helpful, and enjoyable because I got to have a hand in creating the labels that represent my brand to the world.

Marin Design delivered 2 logos and 4 product labels for me in a very short timeframe. Pricing was very reasonable and allowed me to work within my get products moving that much faster.

The portal they used to exchange design ideas was hard to navigate (sometimes). We would have preferred to use more emails for sharing our design ideas. However, their tech support was helpful and responsive, so any issues we had were resolved quickly. And, as I understand it, their portal is secure to prevent unauthorized people from viewing our ideas. We have a nondisclosure, so we were confident that our intellectual property was safe.

The scope of work was to design a logo around my office. I wanted it to be helpful, creative, and unique. I have never designed a logo before so I did not know what to expect but I did not expecto to have to be the one to come up with the creativity, colors, desgin, ect.

Delivery time was fine, but did not respond to my concerns. I felt that having to finalize a design that day was difficult. I also was the one to chose my colors, designs, ideas with everything regarding the logo, I felt there was zero creativity that went into this. You had to fill out a branding guide which makes sense but I was literally answering everything that the logo then became, I do not feel that was creative, I felt once I selected the answers it did not go with what I wanted to image to portray for my business. Which was the entire point of hiring someone to be creative with it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nothing impressed me other than the fast responses to inquring for a logo. The worst part is having to decide in a few hours, there were no breaks offered, we had to sit in front of the computer for hours while having to finalize a desgin, you cannot stew over it and decide if it is the right fit or not. 

I ended up using someone in TX who had a 10 minute conversation and nailed 4-5 designs that I struggled choosing my favorite. He was also 1/3 of the cost!! Highly disappointed.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Marin Design Agency - michellemarin.com could have done differently?

Allow a revision period. Let clients know they will design the logo not the one working with you- they will give rough draft ideas but not be creative, whatever you put in your brand guide they will use exactly that in a logo. ALSO you will not get what is portrayed on the website! It seems there is one woman who does it all but that is NOT the case. the work portrayed on the website is a hired person.. if you actually want those results and creative designs you have to request the owner which is almost tripple the price.
